Istanbul to Canakkale

Unfortunately the internet is running intermittently and very slowly at our hotel in Canakkale so there is not a detailed blog today. Very sad as it was a special journey out of Istanbul, along the coastline of the Sea of Marmara, seeing the Dardanelles and being ferried across to Canakkale.



BUT, I think of my grandfather here 100 years ago, writing in his small diary using indelible pencil, and in very cramped, trying conditions. Communication to and from home took months. Puts things into perspective!



Here’s a special message for you all:



Hello to my darling family and dear friends. Just reporting in to advise you all I am travelling very well. I have a wonderful carer in Jan. I cannot believe that today’s travel has taken me to where my father was. Thank you so much for all your lovely messages. I still cannot believe I am in this wonderful country of Turkey. Much love and blessings, Mum, Grandma, GG, Grandma Mabel, Auntie Mabel, Mabel!
