Fuji Kyu Highland!
We're finally there!! I'm so doki doki...excited! Hello Everyone,
So, like I said in my previous blog, I went to Fuji Kyu Highland today. I went with 3 of my stage managers Mori-San, Hana-San and shy boy, and Miho-san one of the chorus fish I work with. I was a little nervous about going because I am the only person who doesn't speak Japanese well, but they did a great job at keeping me included in the conversations.
We all met at Maihama Station at 8:00 in the morning and Mori-San drove us to Fuji-Kyu Highland. It took about 2 and a half hours to drive there but we got caught in Sunday morning traffic so we didn't arrive there until about 11:15. This was okay because we ended up staying until the park closed at 8:00 pm, so it was a long day anyways. And we also stopped for a snack and toilet break at a rest area called “The little Mermaid.” (I just thought I’d add that…)
So, Fuji Kyu is a famous amusement park in Japan and has 3 roller coasters that are in the Guinness Book of world records for various things. The first ride we went on was "Fujiyama."
Fuji Kyu Highland!!
The white coaster is "Fujiyama!" It has the record for the worlds biggest drop. It dropped us from 89 meters and continued to drop us about 7 times again after that. It was a decent length ride as well...considering we waited in line for 2 hours.
So, once we finished up at "Fujiyama," we headed over to a ride called "Tsunami." I bet you can guess from it's name that it's a ride where you get soaked. The ride it's self is about 2 seconds long but man do you get soaked. Luckily we bought ponchos to keep us dry....well until we decided to go up to the observation deck and get absolutely drenched. But it was a smokin hot day out side, maybe 35 degrees with crazy humidity, so the water helped cool us down a little.
After that ride we went and had lunch at a small restaurant. It wasn't too bad but you know how amusement parks suck your pockets dry. It was about 600 yen, which is about $6.00 American for a small side salad. And when I say small I mean small. But you have to eat right?
Once we were done lunch we headed over to
Fuji Kyu Highland!!
Tsunami Ride....Ahhh....here it comes!! the newest attraction that had just opened July 19th. It was called "eejanaika". But, I don’t know what it means. Now…. when you think about scary rollercoaster’s…you think of loops, and drops and crazy speeds right? Well, times those fears by 100 and then you've got this coaster. It was INSANE!! First off the wait was 4 hours ad 40 minutes just to ride it once....luckily one of the girls was afraid of all the rides and wanted to stay and save our spots in line while we went on 2 other rides.
The first of the two was "Panic Clock" where your legs are dangling and it goes around in circles clockwise and counter clockwise. It was a blast. And then we went on the L.A. Pizza ride which is a big circle of people that swings side to side while rotating really high in the air. I really liked that one. But once we were done there we headed back to the "eejanaika" coaster and met up with Hana-san, who waited for us.
So, we continued the wait at about 3 hours and 15 minutes left. It was crazy waiting that long for a 1 minute
ride but in all honesty....IT WAS WORTH IT!!! That ride was so cool. It broke records for several things...Check out the picture I took from the record. It was like sitting in a swing with your legs hanging. And the chairs were all separate of each other and flipped around as well. The coaster actually did the initial climb with us on our backs facing away from the drop so you really had no idea when it was going to go. It was so crazy fast too. I didn't even know what was happening. All I can say is "SWEET!"
But once we were done there it was 7:00pm and we barely had time for one last ride on "Fujiyama." All in all I had an excellent time. I really had the chance to practice my Japanese and get to better know some of the people I work with. The whole way home I passed out and finally woke up at 11:00pm back at Maihama Station. I was exhausted! Well, this will probably be my last blog...unless something amazing happens. Other wise, my internet gets disconnected on the 14th and I'll be home on the 15th. I just have
Fuji Kyu Highland!!
The Crazy "Eejanaika" Ride!!! Ooooo...I was so scared! to say one more time.....I am sure going to miss it here!!!! Take care and I'll see you all soon!!!
Love always,
Megs
