Howdy folks, I'm a bit behind with my blog, just couldn't face doing it last night due to a WHOLE day of wine tasting, so really wasn't in a fit state to write a blog !! Stu and I decided to get someone to drive us around The Marlborough Wineries, so we hummed and Arhhhd, shall we do a half day tour or a full day, who were we kidding, I said, 'why are we even having this conversation so we booked the whole day, pick up at 10.00am. A friendly kiwi lady called Helen came and picked us up from our accommodation and we met another couple in the van called Paula and Colin from Glasgow. Say no more, knew straight away we were going to get on with them. The sun was shining as we were going into 65,000 acres of wineries. So the first winery was called Hunter's, oh yes we were very sophisticated, tasting the different wines and ticking them off on our forms. Two ticks for really fantastic and one for nice. A cross was for horrible, well I can tell you at the end of the day, we didn't have one cross on there, infact the tick page was getting bigger, going into 3 ticks and 4 ticks. Next winery was Villa Maria, I picked this cos my friend at work, you know who you are !! Loves this wine, sorry couldn't get a bottle in my suitcase for you !! All the wines were definitely getting better !!! onto the next one called Fromm winery, very small and all organic, lots more ticks !! Lots of chit chatter and giggling, having a great ole day. From there Helen took us to another one called Forrest where the 4 of us had a picnic outside and a rest from the wine while Helen went off and picked up some more people. Back she came and another 6 joined the group, in we go for more tasting, then onto Cloudy Bay where it all started to go wrong. You know when you're in the zone ? Stu is now buying bottles of wine and I end up buying a rather large cheese board. Yes you may be thinking, I thought she was going to de-clutter when she got back ? Well I just love this cheese board and so will all of you when you see it !! We continued onto the next one, Framingham Winery, where I brought t - towels with wine glasses and names of wine on them. Yes, just couldn't stop, onto the next winery which was called Lake Chalice, oh I did buy some sort of flag with a winery name on it, had a brilliant idea that I will frame it !! I've had a lot of those ideas in my time !! Then finally the last winery called Lawson's Dry Hills, couldn't say which one was the best, as they all were. Well the four of us were laughing about my cheeseboard and how we were going to travel around with this lump of wood ! We had a great day, real laugh, Paula and Colin were great company, Helen dropped us off, I went straight to bed, got up when Stu made me something to eat, then went back to bed again and he did the washing. Woke up, this morning thinking what the heck am I going to do with this cheeseboard ???
