Arriving in Marrakech

We drove over the High Atlas Mountains today to Marrakech. More later.
This is a very busy place. We're in a 3 star riad (inn). Left the bus. Now traveling by horse and buggy. (Like true tourists)

We drove over the mountains on a road built by the French. (The French Foreign Legion, in fact) The French wanted to subdue the Berbers in the southern part of the country.

As we moved up the range, we passed a lot of these rolling hills. In the summer it's all brown.

A lot of the road was very narrow. Big tractor trailers, truck loads of cows, and other busses were all trying to pass one another

The government was paying to have the riad improved. I wondered if more mining would be started.
