Sydney Harbour
Where to start with Sydney - another wonderful city. We arrived late Wednesday evening are staying in a studio with kitchen so went out to get provisions. We're in a very busy area near China Town and loads of back-packing accommodation - bohemian, multi-cultural. Thursday - yes you guessed it - the HOHO bus. This was great as Sydney is a big city with loads of different sections so we saw an awful lot from the Opera House, the Harbour Bridge, through to Bondi beach and you learn so much about both the historical and modern places of interest. We're staying very close to Darling Harbour which is packed with restaurants so went to eat there in the evening. On Friday we took a tour to the Blue Mountains. These are about an hour or so out of Sydney and really beautiful (blue due to the eucalyptus trees). Stunning views of waterfalls and the mountains. Right in the middle is Scenic World which has cable cars, a funicular railway and a boardwalk through the rain forest. We walked down to the Opera House area in the evening. The weather has been moderate - cloudy but still warm although the mountains were

quite cool.

Saturday we went up the Sydney Sky Tower for lovely views all round the city. We walked around The Rocks (original settlement site and now a cross between Covent Garden and Camden Lock) saw Billy Connolly and then the sun came out and it was baking! Steve's brother Matthew came and picked us up in the afternoon and took us back to their house for a barbie in North Ryde. Lovely to see him and Hannah and all their kids again. Today, Sunday, we met up with them all again and took the ferry to Manley Beach. The weather was at last 30C and not a cloud in the sky but with a gentle breeze so hot but comfortable. The beaches are packed with families, surfers, body boarders, divers etc you name it. The sea was gorgeous. After a late lunch and ice creams we got the ferry back and once again had to say goodbye to the Aussie Bannells for goodness knows how long this time. We are very impressed with Sydney overall and I can fully understand why Matt & Han are so happy here.

Chillin' out in our room this evening before hitting

Sydney !
So glad you liked Sydney, my most favourite place, after dear old England! And the blue mountains are great, Terry and I were on that funicular railway in 1984. Looks like you are having a really wonderful trip. xx

Yes we are Sue. It looks like they've improved the funicular railway a lot since 1984, but still very steep and a bit scary! Loved Sydney!
