1st August 2014

We made our way to the bank to change our pounds to rupees and were instantly ushered to the front of the queue which massively speeded the process up: it wasn't too painful but did require me to present my passport and fill in a form with a home address and a local on e for Nepal.

Spent the rest of the morning wandering though Patan and attempted to get a public bus to Thamel: this (I maintain) was fairly successful and enjoyable except for the small detail that we were in fact on the wrong bus and need up in Chabahil and then had a 40 min walk to get to Thamel. Needless to say that as soon as we arrived in Thamel we found ourselves a shop and bought a map. We were exhausted and filthy by this time so found some food, ambled for a little but longer and then got a taxi back to the hotel. Saw our first monkeys from the taxi 😊

2nd August 2014

Visited our flat (photos to follow) which is massive! As well as having 2 balconies we also have access to the roof terrace so have loads of outdoor space. At the moment it's a constant 30 degrees and humid so the more outside the better.

Had a lovely evening out for drinks and dinner for all new staff.

3rd August 2014

Had a tour of the school this morning - it's looking slightly like a building site at the moment (promised that it will be ready for the start of term) but underneath that it's got lots of higgle-de-piggledy classrooms and is really cute. There are ducks in a pond at the entrance 😊

Signed our contracts for the flat and collected the shipping: most of our stuff unpacked.

4th August 2014

Spent the morning learning about emergencies: these range from tummy ache to earthquakes. I think I'll give Isaac Robinson the task of assembling an earthquake box.

So the adventure has begun and it sounds fantastic! Love the sound of your flat, 2 balconies AND a roof terrace! Lots of space to sip drinks with views then :)
