I've had to get up at 3 to go to the airport, I got the Transvip for 6 lucas, pretty cheap. Once here I made my check-in (I carry 19 kg of luggage in the bag, a part of that is food, and they say that Easter Island is very expensive for everything, I was standing in front of the gate 3 hours before the plane. I prepared I bed with my sleeping bag and my coat and have two hours of sleep until the alarm rang at 7, and the first thing I saw was the face of a Canadian staring at me, quite scary. The plane was very good, even in economy, with video games and movies on demand, good food and unlimited drinks. Arriving at Easter Island you have to walk on the runway to the terminal, there is a single band of baggage and no sliding doors, just an airplane lands on one day,
or maybe 2 a day, and some days none. In the airport itself I found a guy who has a campground, and took me into the van, is not the old campsite of Hanga Roa, is a new one, has hot showers, internet and kitchen for 5 lucas, that is a bargain. From here I went out for a while to see the town, I found a guy who rents bikes for 10 lucas per day, and is willing to give me some more hours for the same price. Besides I've got maps and have informed me about the trails that I can go. Now on this walk I've seen a couple of Moai at Hanga Roa harbour. Today there is much hullabaloo because a cruise parked in front and is full of tourists with high purchasing power. After a nap in the hammock and I went to see the sunset at Tahai. Here in Easter Island is generally all much better than I imagined. Prices are not as high, are only double of what things cost in Santiago, there is cheap chicken meat because everyone has chickens. There are also lots of cars and motorcycles, and that's strange because
there is nowhere to go, the island is 30km at its longest side. There is also a Santander bank that accepts Visa card and a post office. Overall, clearly said, Easter Island has more services than most towns in the Carretera Austral, and the prices are similar.
