Some of the girls I work with!
Hello Everyone,

I don't know if any of you know this or not but baseball is huge in Japan. Next to soccer during the world cup this year, baseball is the sport to watch here. So, on Friday I had the opportunity to go to the Tokyo Dome to see a baseball game. Summer (another Ariel) and I went together to watch some of our co-workers cheerlead at the game and to get the whole experience in. The girls we work with told us to meet them at 3:00 so we could take part in a raffle. So, when we got there they gave us our tickets and sent us downstairs to where the raffle took place. We weren't exactly sure what was going on but we figured out that they would draw a number from the box; someone would raise their hand if their number matched and then they stood at the front. When my number got called I was so excited because I never win anything. So, I got up to the front and filled out a form. However, within a few seconds Summers number also got called. What are the chances of both of us winning?

Isn't she cute?
Well, pretty slim....the raffle was rigged. And what they forgot to tell us was what exactly we were winning. Well, we won the chance to dance with the cheerleaders...in front of a bunch a people who were entering the stadium. It was a little embarrassing because the dance was pretty difficult and they were not the best at teaching it. Fortunately, there were other men (in business suits I might add), women and children with us....who also had no idea what they were doing. But yeah, so we did the dance a bunch of times and then posed for pictures. Then they asked us to come back in an hour to meet them before the game.
So, Summer and I went to get our cheeks painted and checked out the shops in the area. You wouldn't believe the food they were selling. Sushi, Soy beans, meat on a stick, and much more. It's pretty funny. But yeah, at 5:30 we went back to meet the cheerleaders and this is when it all went down hill. So, we were not finished yet with that dance we learned. It was now time to perform it. Yeah....perform it in front of the whole

stadium. What we really won was the chance to dance at the opening dance in the field...on the big screen. So...at this point we began to freak out because we barely remembered the dance. We went down stairs and got ready to go out. When the music started we ran out into the middle of the field and of course we were right in the center. So, we busted out the dance and then ran back off the field.
Once we were finished we went to find our seats. And on our way we ran into some other people we worked with and a bunch of strangers came up to us to say "GOOD DANCING." Once we found our spots we bought some shaved ice and popcorn and watched the game.
The fans are insane though. The whole time they chanted and shouted out cheers. There was even a band in the stands. At the bottom of each section there was a cheer trainer who basically conducted the cheers. It was crazy. They barely played any music over the speakers because there really wasn't a moment of silence to play anything.
Finally, the one thing that really stood out to

Summer and I learning the dance!
me was the beer girls. They each were dressed up in a crazy colored costume and they each carried a huge keg on their back. They would hike up and down the stairs selling the beer. Plus it didn't help that it was pretty hot in there. I felt so bad for them. I honestly don't know how they find girls to do that job. But yeah, all in all it was definitely an experience. I really enjoyed myself. Well, talk to you soon...

Love always,
Megs

Hi Megs, Looks like you had lots of fun even though they got you out on the field. I noticed the pointed toes in your practice. Way to go! Those beer girls must sure be in good shape. Looks like a blast! Love Mom
