This week-end I went to Berlin with some friends of Cologne to visit my dear friend Enhui, who is now studying there. I was waiting so much to go there but mostly to meet her and in the end, the week-end was even better than what I expected because this city is just great!!!

Berlin is well-known internationnaly for a lot of aspects: historically, for party (electro mostly), for alternative districts, for street arts,... and I have to say that I was surprised to see how all this is so true!

Berlin is a huge city so we could not go everywhere but we walked a lot around. I loved walking, wandering there because every corner is different and there are a lot of street arts everywhere.

Firstly, I really liked Kreuzberg district: there were a lot of street arts there, nice remote areas, good international restaurants - very good and cheap Indian restaurant Amar and good Italian restaurant Il Casolare. Plus: there is a very nice hostel there (Comebackpackers hostel at Kottbusser Tor, cheap hostel with a nice terasse and a very big living-room to meet other travellers!)

Then, the area from Oberbaum bridge to Michaelskirchestrasse with the nice bridge, the famous East Side Gallery with the Berlin Wall, Yamm is also really nice to walk around. At Yaam you can enjoy a drink in a good atmosphere. I could have stayed there for a long time just enjoying my time in Berlin!

Afterwards, we did a more historical part: from Alexanderplatz to Bundestag. This part is really different from the other ones that we saw before in Berlin, because they are doing a lot of new buildings, there is no street art, a lot of big brand shops,... However, the old buildings along Unter den Linden street are also very nice to see: St. Marienkirche, Berliner Dom on the Museum Island with the nice Lustgarten, Humboldt University, Brandenburger Tor with the place around it, Bundestag and Holocaust Memorial.

After all this walking in Berlin, we were tired so we got back to the hostel, played cards in the living room, talked to other travellers. However, our day was not finished at all! We then went to eat in a Vietnamese restaurant (yes after Indian restaurant for lunch, the guys tried vietnamese food😉). Food in the restaurant was good but I will never get used to how rude can people in Berlin be (especially because I am living in Cologne, where people are very friendly!), I think the sentence "Ja oder Nein?!" we stay in our memory for some time 😉. After that good meal, we went out in Kreuzberg in a bar, which was nice with a "separated bedroom" as they call it (in the fact some people really tought it was a separated bedroom where they were alone :p...). After the bar, we went out in a electronic club -Magdalena Club- on the riverside. Music there was really good and we stayed there until late 😉

The 2nd day, we discovered Tempelhof area with the former airport during the war. It's funny to walk there where before planes were landing!! However, I think this place is nicer in summer when people are doing BBQ there or when there are some music festivals.

We also went to another historical district: from Check-Point Charlie to Franzözische Strasse. This place is nice with other old buildings. Even if I prefer places in Berlin where there are not so much big brands shops, like for instance the district where we went next: Gleimviertel. We went there to find a nice cafe with the best waffles of Berlin and in fact the whole district was great: old buildings with high ceilings, a lot of nice small cafes and fashion shop. And the waffles we ate were really as we expected: delicious!! The cafe -Kauf dich Glücklich- is nice as well, very cosy, you are feeling like at home!

After this nice afternoon break, we went to Ostkreuz district to continue our gastromic tour of Berlin: that time asiatic tapas were on the menu. Even if the food there - Transit- is nice, I think that they are becoming too famous and are not according enough attention to the customers, which is a real shame...

Then, we went to the bar Supamolly, where a concert of hungarian speedfolk music was. And this was an evening I will remember for a long time! The place and the group -http://www.transsylvanians.de/- were just great! We danced without stopping for 3 hours. They are playing so well of the different instruments and doing a great show out of it.

The last day we finished our gastromic week-end at my friend Enhui's place for a brunch before driving our way back home...

So to conclude: it was a great week-end full of walking, street-art, partying, food, music and friends!
