Back in Ottawa, we've had the chance to wash up once more and now we are intent on exploring the city and nearby Gatineau. We decided to bike through the city. Louise leant me one of bikes and we rented one for Jacob. Ottawa is the greenest city I have ever seen. There are biking paths everywhere, and usually they are along a green belt deliberately planned by the city, or along the canal or along the river and totally beautiful. The age of the city comes out in the stone buildings and there are tons of funky streets and sections of town. Louise took us from down town, around Dow lake {Yes, there is a lake in the city as well as a large arboretum} and back down town again. Jake had a beaver tail mid trip. Gary picked us up and we all went out for dinner. Lovely day.
Next day, we decided to go for a hike. So we drove into Gatineau park and climbed around Pink Lake. It was a perfect afternoon stroll with cheese and salami lunch. Pink Lake is incredibly deep and the last meters of water haven't moved so the are completely oxygen empty, but
the top half has fish, including one fish left from the ocean epoch which had enough time to slowly evolve to survive fresh water. It seems that every day is bringing more sights and experiences than I had imagined. Good night and sweet dreams.
