Our driver headed off along rough and bumpy roads towards a destination unknown, assuring us it was worth the trip. Rice fields loomed lush and green, spreading endlessly, with the random workers toiling in the repressing heat of the afternoon. Temples, tall and proud flew by as we observed with pleasure and appreciation through the large glass windows. This mysterious land did not disappoint, sharing many treasures and smiling, happy people who were eager to please, and eager to share.

Upon arrival, we alighted our mini bus, and were directed toward the entrances of many intricate and beautiful archways, gateways to the endless restaurants standing and welcoming in warm silence. We entered, and were greeted by beautiful hostesses who gently placed flowers in our hair, bending their heads in respect as they beckoned us inside. The huge building stood tall and majestic, with high thatched ceilings and stone flooring. Beautifully hand carved rich timbers and ornate furniture exuding welcoming comfort, sprawled about the huge expanse. Fish of every colour and size and distinction were laid upon ice, the fresh catches of the day displayed to entice us and help with our choice. Food in abundance, colours of magnificence adorned the serving tables.

Leading us outside, our hostess pointed us toward our table, but we stopped, and marvelled at the sight that spread before us. The endless beach of golden sand was strewn with timber tables and chairs which stretched as far as the eye could see. They were beautifully decorated and enticing, many already filled with excited customers. The gentle rolling of waves washed upon the beach, hemming the glistening blue ocean, setting the scene of a postcard, but this time we were here, within the postcard, within this place akin to paradise.

Sipping our cocktails we enjoyed the musicians who hovered from table to table, playing their music and singing their song with such passion and joy. Our meals were served as the sun began to set, creating a myriad of fiery golden hues and colours of the rainbow across the horizon. We were happy, we were free, enveloping this moment in time, tattooing it into our memories to tide us over for the rest of our time. The sun spun its magic, cascading it's colours for such a special time, until it dulled and disappeared leaving darkness in its wake.

One million twinkling candles flickered on tables and across the sand. The ambient sounds of breaking waves, lilting music and song, and a thousand chattering diners filled the evening. The clinking of glasses, the sound of cutlery upon the plates, laughter and happiness overwhelmed the beach that night. An experience to behold, a memory to nurture, and a moment in time that would be remembered forever.
