Here on the islands, everything is about the ocean, its marine life and fish. From the tattoos on the locals to the fishes on the corals and the fishes on our dinner table.

Today we had another great experience under water. After a little messy start at the dive centre we were finally on our way outside the reef heading north to a dive site called Muri Muri. For some reason we can't understand everybody in the diving business seems to have a very special sense for order and planning... The ride itself to the site was exciting. It was the biggest waves we both experienced in a motorboat. The boat was flying of the waves and hitting the water hard in between.

On the site we jumped in the water and we immediately saw black-tip sharks swimming around us. The sharks were not as big as the lemon shark (only about one metre...) but they came much closer. We could almost touch them! Clara had an interesting experience with one swimming right at her. During the dive a dozen sharks came to check us out. As we desented further down to the bottom at 29 metres we saw lots of different fishes in all possible colour combinations. The best dive we made so far!

For the second tank dive we headed into the lagoon again. Back to the site of our first dive at the manta cleaning station. It's a spot with corals were the small "cleaning"-fishes live. The big manta ray comes there in the morning and sweeps over the corals to let the fishes clean them. Last time we didn't see them so this time we were full of anticipation! Again we had to ascent without seeing them but still with big smiles on our faces as this was another great dive. Lot's of colourful fishes, flutemouths and a little too close encounter with a murray.

Later in the evening we had an even closer encounter with some fishes at the world famous restaurant Bloody Mary's. The catch of the day is put on display at the entrance of the restaurant and then you simply select which fish you want for dinner and they cook it for you. We enjoyed our meal sitting with our feet in the white sand that covers the floor of the restaurant.
