Going north up the coast - such a visual feast - only the smallest glimpse captured in photos. First Mui Ne - could have been a nice beach but for the black water from the river coming north close in with the long-shore drfit - pretty frustrating. The saving grace was met up with Stacey, an Aussie working in China who had a hotel with a very ritsy pool - spent much of the 1 day there talking with Stace about China. The ironic thing is that the water clears just to the north where there is no accomodation.

Nga Trang the next day is a beach party town for the locals. They have a standard 1 day boat trip to a couple of islands with very limited and hammered coral. The focus on the boat is social with singing and floating bar. That night took the night train to Danang. With a soft sleeper and a correspondent from Finland to chat to - was pretty comfortable.

Its a 1 hour motobike ride from there to Hoi An. Now here is a real liittle gem. Its a fascinating mix of old french colonial buildings, narrow streets and friendly and inevitably entrepeneurial Vietnamese. It also has a nice beach which is a real bonus - got stuck into swimming. In the evening by coincidence there was a 3 day music fest with peformers from all over Vietnam. Hoi An is one place I was sad to leave.

Sorry about the delay but I can't find anywhere with net fast enough to load photos - later.
