Hello everyone,
Today was the first day of Vacation Bible School and we were working at Belair church. I am directing the program with about 20 of my friends here. We had 18 kids attend from ages 3-16. We sang a great new song to start off that the kids loved called I only want to be a sheep. It was so thrilling to see the smiles on their faces as they did their bible activities, sang songs, played games and made crafts. They were so excited about their bookmarks and especially singing songs with actions. Their smiles and laughter was uplifting. Everyone who was teaching, many of whom were leading groups of kids for the first time did a great job and were flexible in meeting the needs of all our kids.

Bel Air is a congregation in a fairly impoverished community, however my heart was truly touched when we took offering and everyone had brought $1 EC (East Caribbean). They gave what they could and that was so precious. One of the three year olds even sang a song called Jesus and the Telephone. Priceless.

In the afternoon we started painting the church. The joys of painting-not my forte but I am trying. A great time in community... more to come about that.

We just finished our coffee house here tonight and I played an original and Wheat Kings. We feasted on junk food mostly- they even went to town and got KFC the only real North American food. Nothing like the food that Jeremiah made! too bad. That is life.

I must close by saying that I ate the most amazing mango this afternoon-haven't found the town bearing its name, but most of ended up wearing the mango on our paint stained shirts today because they were so juicy. Gladys, you are right, there is really nothing like the amazing fruit we can eat here. I also ate some ginopes-also a Caribbean treat-we don't have them at home.

Any way, there is a line up here. Must get going and off to bed. Going back to VBS tomorrow and I am going to be a sheep again! Can't wait.

love you all.

My worldly friend...
KT, so enthralled to read your adventures and finally have time to add a comment. I am currently in St. Andrews and find myself vibrating between two realities: the serenity and sea-side scope of St. Andrews and the glimpses of Grenada you have provided. I send you my warmest thoughts from Canada's East Coast. Cheers! Paul.
