We booked the Shanghai to Shenzen sleeper train, (booking the train at Shanghai train station was a nightmare.. girl at the counter told me all the trains were booked forever then closed her window! Hooww ruddeeee!). We ended up booking the train through the hostel and had the choice of two trains the next day.. not fully booked after all! Shenzen is in China just on the border to Hong Kong - the train station is in the same building as the China-Hong Kong border control so once off the train just a short walk through the border controls the onto the Hong Kong metro. Easy peasy!

Hong Kong has the same “Urban Jungle” feel as Shanghai, High rise after high rise.. very impressive city though. We did most of the tourist stuff like the Peak, which is a shopping complex built on top of a mountain which gives amazing 360 degree views of the city; "Avenue of Stars"; “The Symphony of Lights” were all the high rise buildings change their lights in time with some music; Hong Kong park and went to visit “The Big Buddha” on one of the islands. The Big Buddha is situated at a national park with walking trails (Ulster Walk as it would be called back home but its called Wisdom Path here). Anyway went on this Wisdom Path and the heavens opened (think its because I made fun of Big Buddha being fat because there is always ice cream stands beside him)- so we were half way up the mountain standing under a little tree trying to get shelter dressed like suzy in the summer – not very wise!

Hong Kong was a pretty easy place to be, nearly everyone speaks English, lots of western foods & people, all the signs and metro are English, and the kids don’t stretch open their eyes and laugh at our western shaped eyes so much! Was expensive compared to china probably double the price. We had intended on staying for the Halloween celebrations we’d arranged to meet up with some friends we’d met in China, but the Hostel prices rocket for the weekend so we decided to move on.

Sorry taken so long to update this but we’ve been having so much fun in Vietnam 😉
