Another perfect day in paradise. We were so tired last night, we could hardly make it to 9 p.m., so by 6 a.m., I was ready to get moving. We walked and jogged a couple of miles, then I led a little yoga practice. My friend and yoga teacher Maria Pham would be proud :-)
We drove to the airport for our sightseeing aerial tour with Wings Over Kauai. I wasn't sure what to expect and was hoping it would be worth the expense. While I love to travel, I hate to spend money - hence the first stop at Costco. I will eat a pbnj for lunch every day to save a few bucks. So even though this was a lot less expensive than the helicopter rides, it was still a chunk of change for something I wasn't sure would be worth it.
It was totally worth it. I'd do it again in a minute and if you ever come to Kauai - eat pbnj's so you can enjoy Wings Over Kauai.
We met Sophie, the office manager, and then Josh, our pilot and his dog, Millie. Millie was a rescued dog - a native Kauaian breed
of hunting dog, but apparently she wasn't much of an aggressive hunter for feral pig and she was left to fend for herself. Josh and his wife adopted her from the Humane Society. So I already like this guy and then I find out his grandparents live in Tilden, Neb. Any concerns I had about flying in a little Cesna type plane drifted away with the trade winds.
There's no better way to describe this flight than to show it. Check out the YouTube videos:

After the flight, we did some shopping and I bought a cute coverup dress that was cheap, like me. We had a fantastic lunch at a Thai restaurant. I'll eat anything in coconut milk, lemon grass and fish sauce. It was awesome.
We hit the grocery store so we wouldn't have to go out to dinner and headed back to our condo. We were both pretty tired and are still trying to get used to the 5-hour time change. But, I couldn't sleep knowing the beach
was just a 5-minute walk away. So, I changed into my suit, grabbed my gear and headed for Poipu Beach. Paul tried to nap but ended up catching up with me about a half hour later.
I love swimming with fish. I really love swimming with fish. I love slipping up and down the ocean swells. I love diving down to chase the fish. I even saw a snake and a moray eel. This spanks Branched Oak. By a lot.
We swam and walked along the beach all afternoon. Then headed back to the condo for a delicious dinner of poke - pronounced po-kay. It's basically raw ahi tuna in a sesame seed oil dressing that is little chunks of heaven on a fork and we watched From Dusk to Dawn - an old Quentin Tarantino movie with George Clooney, Harvey Keitel, Salma Hajek and that insipid Juliette Lewis. It's pretty much the best Mexican vampire movie ever.
So that's our day. It was a good one. Tomorrow we drive up Waimea Canyon.
