Kauai October 2012 Day 1

Our day started at 4:30 a.m. with just a few hours of sleep. I had planned on pulling out of the driveway by 6 a.m., but you know how it goes. There are chickens to be let out, a pony who needs more water, a million little things to remember, then forget when you find something else, then stand around like a dork trying to remember why you walked into that room in the first place. We made our escape by 6:20... then Paul remembered that he forgot to turn off the water hose leading to the horse trough, so we made a u-turn. God help us when we're in our 80s.

We stopped at my mom's house to drop off our car and use her car to get to the airport. Traffic was crazy. Note to self: the interstate is clogged with people NOT going to Hawaii in the morning. We made it in time, though, and were able to change our stupid seat assignments so we weren't sitting in the last seats on the plane next the to restrooms.

When we got to Denver, Paul wanted to check out the Sunglasses hut. Caution: shopping while on vacation is dangerous. The sales guy was funny and charming, the sunglasses he suggested for Paul made him look like Tom Cruise. So, of course, we bought them. And it's all good.

We made it to Kauai about 5:30 p.m. Our luggage made it here about 8:30 p.m. No biggee. I'm just glad it arrived. We stocked up on some groceries, wine and Bushmills. Paul says you can't have a Hawaiian vacation without Irish whiskey.

After toasting to our lovely condo and our adventures ahead, we headed to bed. So far so good!
