After a tough third term at school Jan was ready for a brief getaway.

So, we headed 200km south of Sydney to peaceful Lake Conjola.

Here are a few shots of our 4 days there.

In front of our cabin were some jetties which gave us access to peaceful spots where we could enjoy the 'solitude'.

The water front walk from our cabin towards the sea took us along a picturesque inlet teeming with bird life and fish leaping from the water calling, "Catch me if you can!"

The manicured grass of the local caravan parks was a big attraction for the local kangaroos. Note the mum far right with joey's legs hanging out of the pouch.

Jan stopped to chat with one of the native campers. I don't think the bloke in charge of mowing had much to keep him busy, judging by the number of roos in the park.

Australian salmon are a good fighting fish but the flesh is not as tasty as cold water salmon. This one took about 6 min. to beach.

We hired a 'tinny' and explored the lake on our 3rd day there. The lake is actually a flooded river valley and is very deep over a large area.

While on Lake Conjola we stopped for some fishing in a spot sheltered from a fresh to blustery sea breeze.

Nothing like a chunky beef & mushroom pie & a cold beer to help you recover from a morning on the lake! The reserve infront of the cabin was fenced off making it quite private.

These two spent quite some time on the reserve in front of our verandah. The joey was so young he could barely move without falling over. This was one of his steady moments.

Getaway
Conjola looks like a relaxing spot. You'll have to get Jan into golf when she retires.
