Yes - alas it is true. My reason for living has been severly dented, as my favourite beverage cannot be ordered here (bar Allan Scott Savingon Blanc). I was gutted - walked into a coffee shop in Guilford where i was staying with my cousin, stated my request all I got was blank looks.
me: "you know... like a cappacino without frothy milk on top"
him: "a latte!"
me: " ahh no.... less milk than a late"
him: blank stare
me: "can i get a cappacino then, with cinnamon"
him: "only chocolate sorry"
Sorry all this cultural experience, exploring the motherland and I ramble on about coffee, but at least I have a reason for going back to NZ right??
I arrived at Heathrow. Had a great reception from my cousin and then we had to run to catch the bus to guilford that we missed, all because i don't have a british passport and got caught up in the never ending foregin que. Got lost on the tube - and then had to wait for a train at Waterloo station until 1.10am
Spent most of the friday wide awake - forceing myself to keep my eyes
open until about 8pm, which i decided was an acceptable time to go to bed.
Got up and did some washing which hadn't been done since leaving my house 13 days eariler. Cruised into London - saw Big Ben, the River Thames and Buckingham Palace (not that impressed, Chinese Palaces were way bigger). Randomly met up with Rach's friend David - crazy. Managed to locate Hyde park, and find my email pen friend roosty who i had been writing to for about 9 years. double crazy.
Managed to find the London Eye (its pretty hard to miss). Had a go - it was fantastic to see all the sights of London and from up so high too. Cruised around the streets of London - it was so cold.
Had a beer - then couldn't find the tube station. Met up with David for dinner at this really cool Japanese place. Cruised around Soho looking for somewhere to have a beer - loads of clubs, not really anything quiet.
Caught the train back to Guildford - forced down duty free Baileys.
Sunday was spent not being productive - caught the train back to London to farewell
chris back to worcester. after a beer at a traditional english pub.
Got picked up in Guildford by friend of my mum and dad, Peter Walkerden. and have been staying there ever since trying to organise some work.
Have been loving living here and playing with the dogs. Iam living with peter and suzanne. thier children simon (23) and laura (22). Its fun. Frustrating because i want to work and be productive. Have a couple of nights in town so far.
One with Matt & Henry who lived with my parents for a few weeks - so cool.
Head to Worcester tomorrow to go to Wales with Chris, can't wait!!
