Danny arrived to Narita International Airport in Tokyo after a really long flight, but was ready to explore from the moment he got off the plane. After meeting up with him at Shin-Urayasu train station, I took him to dinner at one of our favorite restaurants: Saizyeria! Saizyeria has all kinds of western-like, Italian food, and I especially like the glasses of wine for 99 yen each! After dinner, I took him to my small, studio apartment at E-Village and gave him a tour....which obviously didn't take too long! Then I gave him a belated birthday gift, we hung out with Larry for a little while, and then rested up for the long, busy week together we were planning to have.

The next morning I had to work early until mid-afternoon, and Larry was also working, so Danny got the opportunity to go exploring on his own. Of course, he went to go find a place to play "GO" or "Igo" (as they call it in Japan) - his favorite board game of skill and strategy (similar to Chess). He fould a place pretty close to where I live, where a whole roomful of children were playing this game....and he soon joined in the fun. Apparently he played 2 different people who were ranked higher than he was, but he beat them both! Yay, Dan! Afterwards, he and I met at the train station and we headed to Odaiba to do a little shopping and sightseeing. Then, once Larry was done with work, we all met up for dinner, drinks and then crepes at Dipper Dans. YUM!

The next day I didn't have to work until late, so Dan and I went to Harajuku to "see all the freaks". As you can see by the pictures below, we saw quite a few. We also did a little shopping and had some pizza for lunch at a restaurant that was WAY overpriced. Once I had to head back for work, Danny met up with Larry, who was just finishing work for the day. Together they went out to Nishi-Funabashi for a conveyor-belt sushi dinner and beer from a vending machine on the street. Mmmmm....sounds classy, huh?

On Monday, I had to work early, so Larry and Danny came to DisneySea to see my show! They ended up seeing two shows in a row. It was funny....Danny was almost laughing out loud when he saw me flying around with a big red wig, a large fin and two purple seashells on...but I could tell he really enjoyed it! As soon as I finished work, I met them in the park where we spent the rest of the day and all had a great time - Especially when the Indiana Jones' ride broke during our second time riding it, and we all had to get out and walk back through it following the operators just to get to the exit!! We stayed in the park all day and throughout the early part of the evening to see Bravissimo and the fireworks. After the fireworks, we left to go have dinner at Kua'aina - a Hawaiian burger/sandwich joint right by Disney.

As you all can see, we had a great start to Danny's 1-week visit here in Tokyo. Stay tuned for 'Part II'...

Love,
Larry & Melanie
