The past couple of weekends have been so busy - so busy in fact I'm separating our shenanigans into two blog entries.

The start of June was very quiet. Quiet in the sense we didn't get up to much, but not quiet at home because we both came down with a horrible chest infection and the flu. There was nothing but coughing, sneezing and wheezing coming from our house for about 3 weeks. But we are pleased to announce that we are finally better and hope to stay that way for long time. (Note to future travellers to Japan - medication here is a LOT weaker than at home, so come prepared!)

Our friend Matt from Australia has been out in Japan with his Japanese wife, Mie for the past couple of weeks. He came out to our place on the 27th/28th June and we had non-stop sightseeing, karaoke-filled fun, fun, fun!

Matt loves his karaoke, having lived in Japan for a couple of years, so we managed to get two nights of karaoke in over the 3 days he was here.

We had absolutely gorgeous summer weather for both days, which was just wonderful. On the 27th we did a day trip to Kamakura to visit Enoshima Island to see the Big Buddha. I went there in winter with my brother and his wife, but neither Cam nor Matt had been before. There were soooooo many cats on Enoshima Island - I was in heaven. Took so many cat photos but won't bore you with them here. The Big Buddha was.........big! So great to have gone back there and Cam and Matt really enjoyed it for the first time.

We spent the next day (28th) in Yokohama, one of our favourite areas in Japan. Again had great weather. Went on the Cosmic Clock ferris wheel. Had lunch at a German restaurant, of all places. And topped off the evening by going up the tallest building in Japan, the Landmark Tower. We've been up a few times before, but never at night and the view was amazing.

Had two fantastic days sightseeing and reminding ourselves how cool it is to be living in this awesome country!!!

(Stay tuned for part two soon!)
