My sister, my father, my mother and myself.
Today, we went to visit my grandmother up in the village called "Geyikbayiri". They've lived in the same house for years. My mother grew up here. In the back of the house there's a garden that my grandmother maintains at the age of 82. She's still going strong. We have cherry trees, apple trees, plum trees, pomegranate trees, and a couple of hazelnut trees, as well as cucumbers, tomatoes, green beans, banana peppers, peppermint, spearmint and cabbage in the garden.

For breakfast, we stopped by a local bakery and bought some bread to go. This bread is made locally. You can't find it in the city. It is delicious with butter when it is hot. I've added some pictures of it so you'd have an idea how they make it.

After the breakfast, we grabbed some buckets to collect the plums. They don't have these in the States unless you go to middle eastern market. These plums are really juicy and sour.

We drove about 5 minutes get to the olive orchard. We have about 40-42 trees. My parents cultivate the olives. Last year they used excess olives to produce olive oil. They extracted 80 liters (about 21 Gallons) of it.

As we were getting ready to get back to the city storm clouds started gathering on top of a mountain near the village, it never rained though. I took some gorgeous photos. Please feel free leave a comment.

What a beautiful view from your grandmother's village. Seems like an interesting place and keeps your grandmother busy. Impressed by the bread-making. It's very hard to maintain a consistent heat with a wood stove. Looks like you guys are having fun

The Stove
Hey Rawn, Thank you for your nice words. I'm impressed by the stove as well. They used to make the bread on a smaller stove. Apparently, this place is really popular so they have to make hundreds of thousands of breads daily. Someone came up with this idea. It's really a oversized wood-stove. There's a person who takes care of the heat consistency by adding wood or removing them. Also the women know what they are doing. Yeah we are having so much fun. Eating a lot by the way. Hope to see you soon.
