Yesterday was kind of a slow day but it was supposed to be mostly a rest day. We waited around for the Doctor to come by and give Qing Ling a basic health check. Imagine that, a Doctor that makes house calls, to a hotel even, and from I understand he's also the head of his practice/group so besides having all the other things to do he's stuck with all the administrative stuff. You wouldn't have know it, took his time, talked about her health, very friendly bedside manners. He said she looks to be health kid, although she could stand to loose some weight because she has a bit of a tummy.

After the Doctor left we went out for a walk. There is a small park near here, which only requires you crossing one street. Which is really important after you see how they drive here, that and people don't have any concept of a crosswalk. There's some very brave pedestrians here. I'm not sure how it all works but they seem to do fine with it. Believe me, it's something you just have to experience. At least drivers here aren't on their horn all day like they were in Wuhan.

Anyway, we walked around for a while, played a toss the bottle caps to this broken piece of tile to see who got the closest, that kind of stuff but the weather didn't let us stay out there long. Just a bit above 40 F but felt colder with all the damp fog around.

We went to lunch when we came back. Jenny ordered some noodles and vegetables for Qing Ling. It wasn't long after she started eating I noticed her eyes getting all watery and her nose was running. Jenny took a bite of the noodles but had to spit them out. They were flaming hot, spicy that is. Now why couldn't I have found that item on the menu....wait I had ordered it already, twice and it was never even close to being spicy. Guess there was a different cook working. We tried to switch her over to my cream corn soup, she tasted it but wanted her noodles back. She ended up eating almost all of them. I'm not sure how but she didn't back down from the heat.

When we went to supper I was showing her the menu, so she could read but everything I pointed out she said no to. When the waitress came over to take our order Qing Ling told her she wanted the same thing I ordered so she was waiting on me to order first. Not sure if she was trying to make sure she didn't get the flaming noodles or just wanting to copy me. I tend to think it's the latter since she's now taken to ordering Coke every time I do, even though she still doesn't care for the fizz.

There was one sad not yesterday, Jasmine's DS seems to have bit the bullet. We can't get it to charge, looks like the connector has gotten loose up inside the DS. It might be fixable but I don't have any kind of tools to even try and take that small thing apart. Oh well, something to deal with when we get back. I'm sure we could find another one here but it wouldn't do any good since the games she has are for a different region so that wouldn't work in a DS that's made for her. Something Troy told us about before we came just in case Jasmine wanted to buy something for it here.

The good side, if you can believe this, Jasmine was entertaining herself yesterday afternoon by working on square root problems. I'm not sure why, it's not one of the things from her list of things her class will be working on while she's gone but I'll take it. Thanks to this room she has learned that 28C is way to hot for a hotel room and you want be sleeping under the covers when its that hot. It's strange that you go anywhere else and there's no heat and I mean they don't have it turned down, there's no heat! Since this area is considered southern tropical they don't see the need to waste resources on installing heat when you can just put on a coat. But this room, we can't get the temperature to go below about 22C and only briefly before it climbs right back to 28C (BTW that's 82F). It's not just our room, it's like that in everyones room. I guess that's one of the amenities of a 5 star hotel here, it comes with heat.

We're going to try and take a half day tour somewhere today but it doesn't look like the weather is going to be good for anything walking since it's supposed to be in the 40's and raining again today. Nanchang doesn't seem to get a lot of tourist, not sure why but 2 things we've learned from that. There aren't very many people that speak any English and second, you don't run into all the tourist types of businesses trying to get you to by cheap tourist souvenirs. It's not that there isn't a lot of history with this city, it's been here for over 2000 years, they just don't do a lot of tourist stuff.

There is this ferris wheel that was the worlds tallest until just a couple years ago. We've driven by it and it's humongous! The top of the new one at Myrtle Beach wouldn't come to the center of this thing here. At least that's the way it looks to me.

So anyway, we'll see what's on the plans today. Maybe we'll go to some of the porcelain places since that's one of the things that the area is famous for.

A day in China
Sounds like a good city to live in. The temperature is not much different than it is here. I think it hit the 50 mark today but that is it. I went to the doctor yesterday for a check up. He didn't come to me. I did get a good report. He cut out one Rx and upped the strength on another. I am betting on all of you riding the ferris wheel. By the way nearly everyone here is excited about the girls even facebook friends that don't know you. love you Dad, grandpa also known as poc and GRANDMA ha ha

Don't bet on that ferris wheel thing.
Even if I did get my nerve up it's to cold and wet I guess since I've not seen it move since we got here. You'll have to keep the facebook crowd updates as I can't get to from here. Love you all to.
