Hi All,

We went in search of the remains of a church of The Knights Templar. It is supposed to be one of the few places left in Britain to have any ruins from the Templars. The Templars were big landowners in Lincolnshire and all of their Lincolnshire holdings were run from the church. The church fell into disrepair after the dissolution of the monasteries.

After passing through RAF Cranwell, which is the officer training and pilot training college, we went to Byard's Leap. The story goes that an old witch lived on the crossroads of Ermine Street and Newark Road and the locals were very afraid of this powerful and ugly old crone. One day a knight was passing by, returning from the crusades, and the locals asked him to help them get rid of this wicked witch. The knight could not refuse as he saw it as his duty to get rid of the witch. First he had to choose a horse so he went to a near by pond where some horses were grazing and the knight threw a stone into the lake and the horse which looked up first was the horse that he chose to ride into battle against the witch. This horse was called Byard and he was blind. Upon attacking the witch she used magic to disappear and then reappear on the back of Byard behind the knight. She dug her claws and teeth into the knight and was slowly draining the life out of him when the struggle startled Byard and caused him to make a huge leap which knocked the witch off Byard onto the ground where the wounded knight ran her through with his sword and killed her. The event is marked by some horseshoes placed into the ground where the incident was said to have taken place.

Enjoy the photos. Jah Bless
