2011

Flights and Passages that brought me to where I was/am. It seems normal to me, but just looking back at this map, I realize it's not quite your standard 9 to 5.

On the Donzi in the Exumas
2011 has been an interesting year. I've traveled to more countries, and logged more miles at sea, and flown further than I've ever had to before. I have quite literally criss crossed the globe. This year, I have done somewhere in the vicinity of 12,000 miles at sea (for reference, crossing the Atlantic is less than 3,000 miles.)

Countries Visited:

Nethland Antilles, French West Indies, Grenadines, U.S., Gibraltar, France, Bahamas, Netherlands, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, and Australia.

Bodies of Water Crossed:

North Atlantic Ocean, Gibraltar Strait, Mediterranean Sea, Exuma Cays Land and Sea Park, South Pacifc Ocean, Singapore Strait, South China Sea, Java Sea, Bali Sea, Seram Sea, Halmahera Sea, Flores Sea, Banda Sea, Sagewin Strait, Cenderawasih Bay, Solomon Sea, Bismarck Sea, Coral Sea, and the Tasman Sea.

In the process of all of this traveling, I have witnessed more variance in cultures than I ever imagined I would have. I also completely lost track of what is happening in the rest of the world. As I recently started watching TV for the first time this year, I've seen a few year-end specials that re-cap the major events of the year, and I was really surprised at how much I had not seen or heard of over the last year, as it has been so easy to just not pay attention to anything but what is happening in my own world.

I have created a map of my journey through 2011 which notes my major movements, either by plane or by boat, as I've hardly spent any time in a car this year.

Thanks for reading in 2011, I'm sure 2012 will bring 'more of the same' haha.
