It’s been 7 years since we said our “I dos” and it’s been a great 7 years. We have lived in 3 countries, called 7 houses homes, had 3 beautiful girls, and Murray has had 3 different jobs. We have both grown immensely and although it’s been a tough year for me, we are doing well as a family.
As we reflect on the last 7 years, here are our stats for our actually anniversaries.
Wedding day – both in NZ 😊
1st wedding anniversary – Maldives together after being told to leave Sri Lanka due to elections (we’d been there a couple of months)
2nd wedding anniversary – I was in NZ, Murray in Sri Lanka. I was pregnant with Charlotte and had some morning sickness only NZ food could fix.
3rd wedding anniversary – leaving Sri Lanka, I think we were in the air on route to NZ and lost that day or most of it?
4th wedding anniversary – Murray in DRC, I was in Kenya.
5th wedding anniversary – Murray’s flight was delayed in North Sudan due to a football (soccer) match. He arrived a day late back to Kenya, missing our anniversary grr Kenya Airways!
6th wedding anniversary – Murray was in the UK at a conference, I was heavily pregnant with Emma getting ready to fly to NZ
7th wedding anniversary – Both in Kenya, ya!
Since we updated you, September came and went, October saw Murray in Spain for a cluster meeting and North Sudan for a check up on the program there. Mum was here for 2 weeks. We won the Rugby World Cup. I started work. Kenya is at war, with some minor attacks on Nairobi and fatalities of some kidnappings targeting foreigners. Charlotte has made some new friends, Hayley has found her voice and Emma has taken a few steps. Its been busy.
Murray is in the final stretch of his masters, and needs to finish his dissertation by early December. He is incredible busy and stressed, therefore I won’t harass him to write about his trips. He is not supposed to be travelling for the rest of the year, unless an emergency happens.
Emma is fun, and easy, loves being around people, loves climbing up the stairs, and walking while holding your hand, she is getting more stable on her feet standing by herself and is
trying to walk, having taken a few unsteady steps. Looks like we may have another early walker, after a slow start by Emma on the development curve. Charlotte and Hayley are both enjoying school, and had their Christmas concert already. Charlotte enjoying the stage more than Hayley, no surprise there.
It’s been an interesting 7 years, who knows where the next 7 will be spent?
