Great Hosts Randi and Daryl Sherfy
We enjoyed our time in Mendocino with my friend Randi from Squak Mountain Nursery and her husband Daryl. They are managing the Albion River campground. We stayed with them for three nights and they were wonderful hospitable hosts. It was fun hearing about their travels and experiences since leaving Seattle. They have been enjoying the California coastal life. Both are semi-retired and work seasonally so that they are free during the winter months to travel, play and explore. They seem to have found a very nice balance.
When we left them they guided us towards Santa Rosa, wine country and a very quiet Best Western in the heart of it. My cousin Bruce recommended Korbel Vineyards for its tour, tasting and killer deli. He was right on the mark. We had a very enjoyable time there before coming home in the late afternoon to lie at the pool. It was 85 degrees today.
The 130 wineries run all around the Russian River Valley and there are 30 varieties of grapes grown here. While driving the roads, everywhere you look you see vineyards; 127 acres of which 10,000 are vineyards. The leaves are starting to turn and the fields are golden in

color. It feels a lot like Italy with the warm temperature and sunny blue skies. Life is certainly slow and easy here, which makes us realize what a quick pace we keep in Seattle. We are still seeing Eagle flying everywhere and have remarked that there are as many or more than we have in Seattle.
Tomorrow we are visiting the Sbragia Family Vineyards. This is another one of my cousin's recommendations. From there we are going to go to Calistoga.
There a lot of photos attached so be sure to scroll down. Enjoy😊

lovely!
So glad to see you've found 'little Italy' in California. Have you done any wine tasting in Eastern Washington? Any recommendations? That's on our bucket list. cheers! ;)
