No boots policy in the smoko room
After a couple of wage negotiations, we have signed contracts to an outback cattle Station! So once again, our short stay of about 5 weeks has turned into more like 5 months!

Jeff has been enjoying his new role as "station mechanic" (the official job title) fixing all manner of machines & equipment - from a measley whipper snipper up to monster trucks! Early starts at 6.30am, an hour for lunch and beer oçlock at 5.30pm so quite long days, however there's been no mechanic here for 18 months so the backlog of work makes the day go by fast. Most interesting repair so far was a tyre change on a huge dump truck, you won't believe this but they light aviation fuel inside the tyre to get it back on the rim! Safety first, as opposed to brains first!!

He still has all his eyebrows.

Tab has been promoted to "station assistant" which basically means she gets called upon where-ever she is most needed! At the moment it's still been primarily the kitchen, with a few days of cleaning thrown in with staff arrivals and the odd guest.

2IC Roy went out to muster some of the horses that live on the land. They got about 30, kept about 10 to be put on a truck back to Perth to be tamed for when they come & stay so they've got some to ride. The remainder were sent back out to the paddocks which was an awesome sight.

Also we were lucky enough to be out walking when we saw Di & Phil mustering some new alpacas into their new paddock and got to help with the gates & leading them to water so they wouldn't dehydrate the next day. Tab has named one Stu (reckons he'll be nice & tender) and the other one Marley (he has choc brown dreads and big lubber lips) and although we've heard they can be quite nasty, they seem pretty cool.

Jeff too has been helping with the butchering of cattle, skinning & chopping up cows (sorry to all the vegetarians) for us to eat. We have red meat at least 5 times a week, and what doesn't get eaten at dinner of course goes into the fridge for sliced cold meat lunches. It may come as no surprise

Outta the sun we go
that we absolutely hang out for our weekly pub visit where we can enjoy some WHITE MEAT over a coldie! Not once have we considered anything other than fish or chicken when dining at Beadon Bay Hotel in Onslow!

So, now that we are staying a little longer, we are on the hunt for a little 4WD so we can escape on the weekends, down to the beach fishing or inland to beautiful places like Karijini NP.

The cats are going brilliantly, especially since we moved into our new spot this weekend. They did have us behind the shed but the annex was in the sun until about midday, but our new spot offers much more shade, and best of all their cat run is now facing outwards so they get to watch all the goings on. Not to mention the daily treat of tuna brine that comes direct from the kitchen fresh each morning!

It's a pretty good crew out here (still now about 35 blokes and 3 women) and we've made some good mates. Tab even managed to win a carton of beer yesterday putting a bet on the Cats/Eagles game and coming out a

P.P.S we are now on Skype (thanks Jase!) our skype name is jefftabi and we are still also on yahoo messenger, also as jefftabi...see some of you there!
