Well.... Buenos Aires, what can i say!? Fantastic city. Theres a good even mix between real Argentine culture and modern cosmopolitan times. Palermo is the equivilent to Londons Shoreditch with quirky markets and cool bars whilst San Telmo and La Boca are home to the tango dancing and old antique and art markets.
On our first morning here I got up early to go to the loo and somehow managed to get locked in! There was no way out and the only word I knew was "hola"! Gray saw me go and fell back to sleep so it wasn´t until he awoke 2hrs later that he realised I was missing. Not long after I was rescued by the local locksmith. God bless that man.... I was freezing! Brrrrr... (they even had to pass me some socks under the door!)
After this little incident it was quite clear that if we were going to stay in Spanish speaking countries for as long as we plan, we had to learn the language.... or at least attempt! We booked a 2 week course which we have now completed. Naively I thought that I would be fluent after this time but all i
Toilet troubles
My tall, dark, handsome knight in shining armour... can say is "tengo un perro" (i have a dog)... but i don´t! Gray is just as rubbish as i am but he pretends to understand what people are saying. My favourite tactic of his is speaking slowly in English with a slight Spanish accent in hope that people will understand!! I have perfected my look of blankness!!
We sampled a few of the clubs, our fave being Pacha where Darren Emerson was doing an Underwater tour. I am now a firm believer in the language of dance...... we met a group of locals, most of which didn´t speak a word of English, who really sorted us out. They even drove us to an afterparty. It was in a club next to the sea. The sun was shining and the atmosphere "electric". There were massive windows all around so it was broad daylight inside... a far cry from Sids or Zombies but we loved it! It was really surreal to see that people half the world away do and love exactly the same as what we do and love. We did an honoury dance for all our clubbing buddies (you know who you are) where we did all your
individual dances. That was fun!!
I have found my new favourite restaurant... DESNIVEL!! Its as cheap as chips and serves the best steaks ever! The steaks in Argentina are amazing anyway, over an inch thick and no grisle... can you believe it!? One of the main reasons though for Desnivel topping my list is because one of the waiters looks like a big friendly polar bear! Oh and the papas fritas.... mmmmm rico! (yummy)
One morning after a suitably heavy session we were trying to sleep when all of a sudden Buenos Aires went to war.... or so we thought! It was infact political demonstration day where the enire population (or so it seemed) took to the streets with big drums and fire crackers! We were really pissed off to start with but soon joined in the fun and frolics with zero sleep. Everyone headed to the main square for the Presidents speech. It was pretty crazy stuff!
Whilst here we have done a fair bit of shopping for warmer clothes as we head south. The market in Palermo is great! Loads of local designers selling hand made gear. As for the people in Palermo, well.... I
Sore!
Those long coach journeys are taking their toll! haven´t seen this many big sunglasses since Ibiza! Really gutted I didn´t bring the deidres!! I have bought the most outrageous rain mac ever. I stick out like a sore thumb but I really didn´t fancy your standard, run of the mill kag in bag. I cant wait for you all to see it!
We have also done the touristy stuff. La Boca, Puerto Madera, a tango show and even the local cemetery (Évita was buried there). The cemetery was all a bit weird, a little city of tombs.
So thats about it, oh.... apart from the zoo which is possibly the best I have ever been to!
Quote of the trip so far... "must put 2 jackets on today... i smell". 2 guesses who made it... and it wasn´t me! ; )

Ps. I cant wait for you all to see Lynny's mac either! I have named it 'compdiculus' on the basis that it is completely ridiculus!!
My Spanish is coming along nicely
