Another day for you and me in Surfer's Paradise

Edit Blog Post

We stayed in Surfer's Paradise for 4 nights. As i mentioned in my last blog, it is a really touristy place with fastfood outlets everywhere and loads of high rise hotels. On our first day me Chris (Martys travel buddy), Jonny and Will went to play crazy golf at King Tuts Put Put (or words to that effect ) We decided to play all three courses that were available, including an Egyptian themed one and a dinosaur themed one. I reckon the many hours of playing Monkey Golf on Holtby's Gamecube (aka the kiddies console) put us in quite good stead. Me and Jonny couldn't be seperated after 54 holes so we came joint 1st (Though technically i should have won due to the fact i got more hole in ones, not quite the bb when it comes to agressive crazy golf!)

We had a gooney night on day 1 in Surfers, no we didn't all dress up as characters from the Goonies (although when T-Bone joins us soon we've got the best Chunk lookalike going, banter!), you'll recall that Goon is the name given for cheap boxed wine. It's only about a fiver for five litres, the stuff is pretty lethal, especially when there is no white available so you have to get Red or Rose-UUghh.

The day after that was pretty quiet, I just chilled in the hammocks outside our room, couldn't even be bothered to go to the beach. At night Chris introduced us to this girl who he done his Fraser Island trip with, she had become a Lap Dancer to make some extra travel money?! Times are hard eh! (Before going on i'll point out that we met her at our hostel and not at said establishments) She was one of the most talkative people i've ever met and she started every sentence with, "I'm not a bitch but..." or "I'm not a slag but..."- Some people eh!

Day three was a day that i'd been eagerly anticipating for quite a while, probably only rivalled in terms of looking forward to things by the imminent arrival of our good friend Dan Holtby, aka (insert your favourite endearing fat related nickname here!), and by the World Cup. Yes, day 3= Wet and Wild! A quick bus ride out of Surfer's and we were there, needless to say we had a great time getting a bit wet and a bit wild. Because it was off season one of the rides was shut but the plus side meant no cues!! As well as the usual extreme slides they had a set of about 8 slides next to each other which you slided down front first on mats (Similar to the type you go down in sacks at Wigton gala or summat!), at the finish line the position where you finished came up on screen. Needless to say Jonny, or Tiger Sprigens as he christened himself, got a bit competitive! He was crying foul play after his pi55 poor showing in race 1- insisting everyone else had false started, surely the only logical explanation for him not winning?! He finally won a race, and straight away retired "undefeated"!!

Another favourite was the Twister, two adjoining Twisty Tubes which you could race down. Probably similar in style to the one at Oasis where everyone's favourite pool attendant, Broomo, once tried to check for sharp obkjects before splashing into the pool! Bully took the plaudits in the Twister races. Although there was one race where he was racing a 6 year old girl and despite offering her a head start then proceeded to fly down the tube about 2 seconds after she had- he was like Ant on SMTV after he'd shitted up one of the kids on Challenge Ant! Jonny's attempts to get off to the perfect start were comically thwarted in one race as when the attendant said "go!", he was still swinging himself backwards rather than forwards. (You had to be there)

The day after Wet and Wild we went to the beach and met the German's who we done our Whitsunday's trip with, also played a bit of frisbee (We really need to get another football!) Had another good Night out in "Paradise", though we were all pretty lightweight deciding to leave at 1am to get Kebabs, oh the joys of home!

We left Surfer's on 27th and headed to Byron Bay.

Goonies Never Say Die
Hey you guys! You could have had a well good goonies party even without me. You as Mikey (aka Samwise Gamgees) the loveable asmatic, Will as that chinese kid who invents things and Jonny as (yes you guessed it) the one and only Sloth. Nice to see you guys are as excited by my arrival as I am. In exactly one week I'll be on that plane!!! I love the fact Jonny was crying foul play over the race. Just like those bygone days when we played CTR. "Yeah you should have definatley won that race Jonny. The playstation must have broken again". Ok, I know it was me you used to say that too but I'm the one reminising and I'll remember it the way I like.
