Our last evening in Broken Hill saw us shudder in the small and discreet earth tremor and we had our little person off on her own adventure with Daddy to hospital with asthma. All is fine and appears ok but as the Smith family holiday is never a dull moment we thought we may have some downtime in Port Augusta on Wednesday evening. Thankfully we had booked our site early as campervans were flooding in all evening. After a quick bite to eat, an early bedtime was had by all.

We have arrived safe & sound in Coober Pedy and I'd love to say that the weather is beautiful & that we have been enjoying fabulous bbq's every evening for tea. We'd love to say that we have enjoyed the travel on beautiful days with the sun shining through our windows but we would be lying through our teeth. Unfortunately it has been cold & raining on and off since we left Broken Hill.

Today we left Port A at 9.30am, heading north for a big day of driving, stopping at Pimba for fuel and contemplated playing the pokies (all four of them.....) at the roadhouse. We thought about stopping at Woomera but were too scared in case we were locked up at the old detention centre. We fought the road with a huge truck carrying a wide load (we won), however nearly got shaken off the road by numerous road trains coming the other way!! We enjoyed a gourmet lunch at the Glendambo roadhouse (Mmmm..... hotdogs in hamburger rolls were the best they could do....yummy). Along the long 6+ hour drive we played Bingo which Charlize made for us and sang songs to the Ipod till the battery ran out, radio stations were non existent and the all other electronic devices battries died. Just what every parent wants during a long haul.

We arrived at Coober Pedy Oasis (in name only) Caravan Park to discover that all water costs money & that if we want to get clean, we will need to remortgage the house to have a shower or wash our dishes & clothes. I would say that it is more a mirage than an oasis. Lisa isn't too impressed, the dirt is red and up to the caravan door, it's wet, muddy and cold. Apparently we are the lucky chosen few because many people were getting turned away as all parks are full. On the upside, Graham's beer is cold!!!

Forecast for tomorrow is fine and hopefully we can find some nice parts to visit and Graham can finally put his shorts on coz I'm sick to death of hearing that he wants to wear his shorts (just bloody put them on under your trackie dacks or jeans).
