For work Murray has travelled to UK, Norway, Haiti, and South Sudan. More from him on another blog 😊

We had Murray’s sister Megan and family staying with us for 3 weeks. We managed a long weekend away with them to Naivasha and Nakuru in-between Murrays work trips, Celebrated Charlottes and Hayley’s Birthdays and hosted a “High Tea and Hats” for the Royal Wedding.

We stayed at Mugaa House in Naivasha, which was lovely as always. And did some day trips from there, Nakuru National Park, Crescent Island and Elsamere. Nakuru National Park is well known for Rhinos and Flamingoes, and it didn’t disappoint. This was Emma’s first safari, and at 4 months old, she was very good throughout. (This was also the first safari park Hayley visited as a baby). We saw a huge family of giraffes (almost 30), the most we have ever seen together, and enjoyed seeing a baby baboon playing.

Crescent Island is where Out of Africa was filmed, and you may remember last time we went there, the guides telling us not to worry about the hyenas as they sleep during the day. As we walked meters away from a huge male giraffe (that, by the way, can kill a lion with its kick), I questioned again the safety of the walk, and the guide reassured me again, that the hyenas were sleeping. I explained to him that I had seen many a hyena awake and active during the day, and he assured me they were scared of him. When I asked if they were scared of my children? He just laughed and decided that would be the end of talking to me. We really enjoyed Crescent Island this time, much more than the last time we visited. Definitely driving there instead of going by boat. On the way home we visited Elsamere, where Elsa the Lion lived with Joy, and became famous in the flim ‘Born Free’. We enjoyed high tea in the garden, overlooking the lake, and the gift shop didn’t disappoint.

Charlotte is now 4, Hayley is now 2 (and fully potty trained, so proud of her!! And in a big girls bed!), and Emma is on the lookout for a new nick name, as Emma the sumo wrestler just doesn’t cut it 😊 She is the 90th percentile for height and weight. A very smiley wee girl, and isn’t interested in rolling, as why bother, everything will be bought to you by two dotting sisters. Please pray for safety for the girls and I while Murray is travelling especially. Someone from our church was murdered in February in a botched robbery, he is survived by his wife & 2 small children, so as you can appreciate, I have been having trouble sleeping while Murray is away.
