sun setting over the golden gate bridge
I wonder if this was the seagull who got me the next day !!!! Well - San Fran seemed to be over so quickly - what a great city though. Alcatraz was great to see - we did a night tour in torrential rain which made it rather spooky and cold - very eerie place. Very cosmopolitan city, fab shopping, bars, restaurants etc. - down by the piers you can get bowls of clam chowder in bread bowls for about £3 and any kind of fresh seafood you want. The Golden Gate bridge is a bit of an anti-climax really - it's just like any other bridge !!!! The hills are something else though - but that means you don't see any of the massive lardy yanks there as they're too lazy to tackle them. Riding the trams up and down the hills is great - but the queues for them on a weekend were ridiculous - consequently carl made me walk EVERYWHERE - thankfully the weather had cleared up though for our last 2 days - so I was able to stop for a few snoozes in the parks !!!
We spent our last few hours with a "coffee to go" sitting in Union Square opposite our hotel watching the world go by completely
depressed that we were going home. It felt really wierd going to the airport and not having to plan where we were going, what we were going to do, did we have our bookings right !!!!!
And now we're back home to reality and really struggling to acclimatise - slept for 4 hrs first night then we were wide awake from 3-6am, then slept till 2pm only because the phone woke us. We've been trying to get back to sleep since 2:30am this morning between sneezing and coughing fits and finally gave in at 5:30 and got up to feed our rumbling bellies - our body clocks where ready for their usual 3 course evening meal followed by a few cold ones !!! So it's now 7am and I'm back at work today - oh dear !!!! it's going to be a long week.............
thanks for following our blog
look forward to boring you all with the full photo and video collection !!!!
hope to see you all v soon
lots of love & snogs

over to the packhorse who has a few little ditties to share with you all..........
San Francisco is a belter of a
place, although THE hilliest city on earth. We walked our legs off trying to get as much in as possible in our final city - this unfortunetly was the final straw for the self titled princess. The rigours of our wee jaunt had finally caught up with her and she was ready for home. Unfortunetly her last day proved to be a testing one but I can only thank her for providing much amusement. Her first trying moment came as we headed back through the marina after walking to see the Golden Gate Bridge - with a fresh pot of tea in hand a large seagull decided to use our Elyse for a spot of target practice and dropped a large scoop of poop onto her bottom lip just as she lifted the cup to drink. The carnage was impressive and you could only nod your cap in admiration at our feathered friend for his accuracy and timing. Once over that incident we continued our romp back down to Pier 39 where Elyse was caught up with all the sights and sounds of this bustling pier - unfortunetly she was so engrossed in other peoples activities she walked full on
into a large steel lampost - not once but twice!! I was as sympathetic as I could be - nuff said.
We have all experienced that post tour depression that hits us after a couple of weeks away in the sun - so imagine the look of joy upon our faces as we stepped off the plane at a rain drenched Heathrow on Monday morning. Yes indeedy, we are writing this final entry from the room that saw many of you party like trojans a few months ago. This may be a short entry as I'm off to sort the car that will not start and a boiler that has decided that heating and hot water is too much of a luxury for us to enjoy and to clear newly developed jungle gardens. Oh how reality has kicked me hard in the nuts.
I would like to thank all of you who have taken a keen interest in my physical well being and look forward to meeting up with all of my fat friends (as I have no other kind apart from Stickie and Mole) to discuss the big cultural issues that has my mind in a spin
- Aussie surfer bird or Thai subserviant waitress bird? - Aussie Victoria Bitter or New Zealand Canterbury Red? - Crocodile or Kangaroo meat? - I look forward to discussing with you all.
It's been emotional

At last the smile is on my face
How does that saying go, ah yes "he who laughs last laughs the longest, hahahahahahahahahahahah etc. Your site and subsequent entries have been quite addictive and I have been quite depressed at the thought of the both of you having so much fun without me and Hoppy. But at last it is all over and a broad smile is across my even broader face/head/back side etc. to replace the green hue that has spread across it (not due Yorkshire's best either) over the previous weeks. Welcome home I look forward to chatting over the finer points of the last few weeks and plotting the future plans France and the new spiritual home of Valencia com July
