Hello All!
well, I am
slowly settling in...
I arrived yesterday in my homestay for the next 2 months. It is with a very nice lady (with her son & wife living downstairs) in a muslim area of Athlone.
Two other girls have been at the same home for a few weeks now. One is from Dublin, the other from the UK -- and I find myself saying "jumper" now instead of hoodie or sweatshirt so I don't get weird looks! haha
It has been CHILLY here - rain drops & wind, but the sun did peak its head out today.

I was contemplating bringing my big poufy black ones and should have!!
There is no central heating in the houses and no fireplace in my homestay either. I slept IN my sleeping bag, in the liner sheet under 2 blankets & it was a-okay.
The window is so thin you - you can hear everything so clearly, you would think the window is open!
I got the day to relax & was taken for orientation at Sarah Fox Convalescent Hospital.
It is smaller than I had pictured, but nice, bright & clean. The kids are the cutest - especially in the baby ward, I walked in and there were about 7 of them on their play mats - they all looked like septuplets to me! haha
Today I layzed around my room reading & such, couldn't/didn't venture out because I had no key to lock the place up as Shihida was out.
I am not overly intrepid, but it is a bit intimidating here - hopefully only until I get the hang of things.
Have a weekend planned somewhere ??? in a hostel with the girls... (my 2 housemates threw me in the group with them & 2 others) and I think the movies tomorrow night.
I am realizing I will need a huge long day stuck in an internet cafe to get all of the things done that I need to - but who wants that !? and will more than likely come in over-budget on the trip!
