That is us now back in irkutsk after a wee excursion. We were picked up early on sunday and driven five hours to khuzhir on olkhon island. The drive was rather bumpy but the scenery was amazing and lots of random cows to watch. After our five hour drive we were greatful to be met by our host and shown there was running water!. Previously we were told there was not! We were also greeted with a huge meal of potatoes eggs and onions. Nice to have decent hot food! We then had walk round island and met the roaming random cows and took walk to shamon rock which was pretty and covered in ice. We then headed back to hostel where we were sharing house with two germans and french guy. The next day we got up early for breakfast, pancakes and porridge and then headed on our tour. Went in mini bus across the ice of lake baikal. We then got out and skidded around ourselves on the ice. Quite possibly biggest ice rink in the world. Went to see some hot springs also and had our lunch in middle of the ice. We had a banya at night, which is a russian sauna and then had chance to wash. Full cooked dinner again, catered well for me being vegetarian. Our last day on island was today where we had walk round village, stroked the dogs and cows before being picked up at one for our five hour trip back. Back at hostel where they stored our stuff free of charge and had a shower before we head back on train for two nights!
