When u get drunk!
We didnt make i t past the second winery...obviously we drank way too much!! 22/04/06 - 25/04/06
The wine capital of Argentina....and rightly so!!! wine is cheap and great!!! i´ve become friends with a grape called Malbec!!! i love anything Malbec...why we dont get it imported to asutralia surprises me!!! i arrive here at 2am in the morning and get into my hostel only to randomly bump into a guy called Feargal that i had now randomly bumped into for the 6th time during my travels!!! small world!!! so i unpack, have a shower and go out clubbin with him and 6 others (4 argentinians,1 spanish and 1 french!!) in a club called Apeteco...this lack of sleep thing is really gonna catch up on me at some point!!!
Meet a crazy group of random travellers, we hire a car and go wine taste testing...wine and driving....hmmm...not a great idea. but it seems the police are laxed about the issue and you never see anyone pulled over for drink driving...no doubt half the drivers would be booked!!!
we didnt make it past the 2nd winery, where we devoured our way through almost 10 bottles (Tempus- Malbec and Shiraz). this resulting in our descent into baring our bare arses in a photo and saluting the great
Andes ranges
i must have seen these mountain ranges over 10 times...and still they go for thousands of miles...impressive feat of nature wine region...and well...life in general...and the random, amazing life of a traveller...and the people and memories you choose to let form!!
My last day in Mendoza (25th april)- did an organised bus tour (not my thing normally, but has to be done occasionally). We trversed through and around the base of the inspiring Andes mountains. Why these jagged peaks decided to simply erect itself in an otherwise arid landscape...it amazes me. but they do form a stunning border dividing Chile and argentina. We ascended to one view point with panaromic views all around you, and where i can step and be in Chile, then a step in the other direction and be in Argentina...if only they would stamp my passport book, it would look more full!!! its strange, they always stamp the same pages every time!!! argghh!!!
