Building, maybe Colonial styleBuilding, maybe Colonial styleBuilding, maybe Colonial style

This reminded me of Downtown Vancouver.
About a month ago I went to the Imperial Gardens in Tokyo with two guys from Sweden. It was quite pleasant, lots of trees and grass. The Swedes are heavily addicted to an online game called World of Warcraft that I was unfortunate enough to have a past addicition to, so we swapped some war stories. I escaped long ago; they spent most of their time in Japan reading about the game and lamenting over their missed guild event opportunities.

I plan to leave Tokyo near the end of May, and travel around Japan before heading to Australia. I don't know for how long, because it's starting to get very hot and humid, and the prospect of lugging around a heavy backpack while sweating profusely is not appealing.

I took more pictures of food. Enjoy.

It's not very interesting, I'm sure. But it stood out to me.

Right outside the Gardens. Not a common sight in Tokyo.

This was taken after he punched a duck in the head. That's not true, there were no ducks.

I was wishing these were giant Wagon Wheels. Chocolate coated and full of marshmallowy goodness. The guard told me to stop gnawing on them.

In the 14th Century, this Samurai went into a battle he had no chance of winning, sacrificing himself as an act of loyalty. He became a patron saint of sorts for Kamikaze Pilots.(Info taken from everything2.com and badly mangled)

I was really excited when I saw these, but I just couldn't get them to fit properly.

There was a huge grove of these. This is just a small sampling.

The sign indicates that people are not allowed to run Marathons. I assume that applies to Sprints as well.

Back On Line
Hey Matt! I haven't been at work since October, and so no news. Great to read and see your pictures. A really interesting peek into your experience. I think that you will find Australia a culture shock after so much time in Tokyo. Are you able to speak a bit of Japanese now? Thanks for the great blog.
