Today was spent on a boat cruise at Akaroa, although a lovely day it was fairly rough out on the water. However, the boat cruise was great! I saw several pods of Hector dolphins, they are are the most cheeky and playful little creatures, they were swimming around and playing nearby. The dolphins are very small at just 1.2 metres fully grown and are just adorable! At one point there were several pods just swimming around the boat!

I have photos which do not do justice to the great dolphins but I will include a few when I next can upload!

Also saw the smallest penguin the white flippered blue penguin, which have adorable little white faces. These are the smallest and rarest of the penguins and so small they look like a small duck, they are found only in this particular area in New Zealand!

A wildlife fact for you- female penguins trade sex for pebbles and stones to build their nests!

I have uploaded photos, these little dolphins are just so cute!

Ps forgot to mention about finding this fabulous sign near Akaroa!
