Namaste!

After almost 2 years of inactivity travelblog is back!
We left Istanbul heading to Colombo on 17th january and after a stopover in the Emirates we arrived to Colombo 24 hours after. Full of Illusions, excited, happy....Sri Lanka sounded
like an interesting country, where we could easily spend 3 weeks ...But it wasn't, at least for us. After changing our minds a couple of times we end up staying just 11 days, taking a plane to India happier than when we arrived to Sri Lanka.
Ok...let's be fair. It doesn't mean that is a horrible country, it has enough attractions to offer to the visitor, people is friendly, everybody smiles to you, its easy to travel, there are some heavenly beaches, green mountain scenery but....but it's boring and I think this is our main problem.
Let's start: Colombo. A place to forget. One city without a clear center, nothing to see, no soul. So when we were recovered from our flight we went to Galle, in the south, probably the prettiest city in the country.
After spending a couple of days walking the streets of the old Galle, located in a Fort built by europeans, and taking a bath in the nearest beach of Unawatuna we left to Mirissa, that became the biggest surprise in our trip.
Mirissa, a small village with a pretty beach of white sands, crystal waters, and some cafe-restaurants where you
can eat delicious fresh fish or drink fruit juices under the shadow of the palms. In the evening we strolled along the shore under a sky full of stars with the sound of the waves in the background .... waves .... those same waves, soooo huge, that made me roll like a croquette in its interior in several occasions making me caught them a terrible fear until I learned (so unorthodox) to cross them ... but without letting go of Marc's hand! :P
We left Mirissa with a certain sadness and we head to the interior of the island, to the mountains. After changing buses 5 times, to travel around 200 km spending more than 9 hours we arrived exhausted to Haputale. By the way, a special mention to the buses, they seem more a can with wheels running at 30 km per hour and with people getting in and out wherever they want, and where having a seat is a luxury only available if you take the bus where the trip begins.
Once in Haputale the climate gets worst and rain becomes our travel companion ( even it is the dry season in this part of the
Unawatuna beach
atardecer en Unawatuna island) but we expected this to happen as one week before our trip began Sri Lanka was suffering very serious floods in most parts of the island.
So at this point our trip becomes almost to the end, plans change.....Let's go to India before!!! So the moment arrived: Good Bye Sri Lanka!
We leave the country a bit upset because we couldn't enjoy all the things it could offer, but with the memory of Mirissa, the rumour of the waves and the smile of their people in our minds.
Coming soon....news from India.
Namaste!
