Cusco Homestay
Courtyard of our house with Diego/Gabrielle We have arrived in Cusco! We had two brutal flights during the wee hours of the morning hopping from Miami then to Lima. Sleeping on the plane was difficult if not impossible. Once we arrived in Lima, we bought a flight to Cusco and arrived here an hour and a half later. It is absolutely beautiful here, about 70 degrees, partly cloudy with a slight breeze. At the airport we met our program coordinator John, from Belgium, and he took us to the Fairplay headquarters. It is a great place with outdoor classrooms for people to learn Spanish, an entertainment room with big screen TV, and a computer room where we can go online and update our blogs.
We spent our first night at the homestay, which is almost more like a hotel than a house. The front door opens up to a courtyard with rooms all around. Our room is on the second floor (see photos). Right now I am sharing a room with a friend and we have our own private bathroom. The family is very welcoming. Armando and Magi are the parents, Fenny (married to John), Mimi, and Ruth are the adult daughters, and there are 4

The twins Diego and Gabrielle with the dog Toto. Very cute and funny. (Sons of Fenny and John) grandchildren all living in the same house. Even with all those people there's room for 5 of us, a Canadian guy, a German guy, and an Australian woman. The food has been simple but good, some pasta soup, rice, and chicken.
We have decided to take a week and explore the city before we start our volunteer positions. That is all I have for now. I will upload the photos I have taken from the homestay.
Until next time,
Robbie
P.S. There are also pics from Miami in there too. More photos of homestay on page 2
