The Desota House: Our home away from home in Galway

I felt I had to pay special tribute to our B and B, seeing that it was offered us such comfort and refuge from the shared hostel rooms, and it was just SO adorable! Our B and B was called the Desota House, and was located on Newcastle Road, near the cathedral. It was an easy walk to what was explained to me as being the "local side of the bridge", and a little farther was the main street, Quay Street.  It was managed by a man and woman, and Jon and I couldn't quite figure out their relationship, but nevertheless they were both so welcoming and hospitable.

The B and B itself looked pretty average from the outside, but once inside it had the quaintest accents.  There was white crown molding through all the rooms and dining areas, which contrasted perfectly with the beige/coffee colored walls.  Each room had personal tea settings with 2 white china tea cups and saucers, accompanied by the smallest metal stirring spoons I have ever seen...adorable!

There was a small dining room area next to 2 large windows where breakfast was served. We woke up on the first morning to find the typical free breakfast we have previously been given at the hostels...toast, cereal, and a spattering of random bananas intermixed with apples, and oranges (if you're lucky). We took a seat to enjoy yet another meal of toast when the main man came to take our order for breakfast. What!? Real breakfast!? It was then that we saw the menu offering Irish breakfast, eggs, bacon, and the lovely vegetarian option (a preference I have not succeeded in finding since we got over here) so I was ecstatic to say the least!! Just having a real breakfast set us up for muuuuch more productive days, especially when we had the option to laze in a ridiculously comfortable bed before setting out into the wet, cold Galway.

Needless to say I was thrilled every morning and every night as we were shown such hospitality from the Desota House, and I hope that we can pay them another visit in the future!

Not the most thrilling entry, but I know at the very least my mom will eat this up!

Kinda disappointed you two - no mention of Guiness, porter, ale, or beer of any kind!
