We headed off on our first adventure in The Ark, Mick, Jenny, Chrs & Kim would be joining us at different times over the weekend. the trip to Gloucester wasn't as uneventful as the trip home when we purchased it! We had packed it all up attached it to the car ready to head off on a sunny Friday morning. well so we thought, checked the lights-not all working!!
Being new at this we thought it could be more than globes, so we headed down to the local repco and got the globes we needed, now the new ones worked and the others didn't-go figure! Eventually we got it all fixed it is now lunch time. we head off thinking all is good. We go no further than 5 minutes driving and the roof vent comes up! I can remember quite clearing clipping it down, so all I can think is that ithey have wriggled loose while driving. So we need to find a spot to park on this 2 way road with no parking so we can see if we can fix it without having to open the whole thing up! Fortunately me having long arms was able to resure it through the door that can open without assembling the whole thing-note to self ensure we secure with a okky strap in future.

Off we go again we are finally on our way for more than 5 minutes and have an easy trip to Gloucester Holiday Park-bar the step wriggling loose and a friendly car driver letting us know! So that is 3 things all should be fine for the weekend now. We arrive and find a nice spot with some shade and not too far from the amenities, which are very clean. We have no trouble putting the camper up-it is a bit heavy but will look at changing that to make it easier. We are quite excited to have our first night in The Ark. we go for a walk into Gloucester to buy some meat, salad and milk for dinner and breakfast, it is a nice, flat 10 minute walk to the town with nice coffee shops and pubs. dinner was easy and so was showering, so far enjoying better than our camping trip with children years ago! The joys of computers, we never watch DVD's at home, so we decide now is the time and thouroughlly enjoyed it well The Moth did, I fell asleep! Unfortunately our first night in The Ark wasn't the best-the cows in the far paddock Mooed ALL night! Oh well we have nothing to do all weekend so a nanny nap will probably happen at some point!

The next morng the Grace's arrive, their camper van is only 12 years old a Jayco Eagle, so a lot more modern and easier to set up then our old thing. A relaxing day chatting and discussing our camperswhilst enjoying a cool drink at the pub before heading back to the park, it is good to hear views on ways to make The Ark easier to put up and down. Later in the afternoon Chris and Kim arrive with their 2 year old Pop top with all the mod cons-microwave, hot water, seperate bedroom.Beautiful!

By now it was getting dark, time for dinner, Kim had worked all day and had prepared something earlier to reheat in the microwave. The Moth, Mick Jenny and I had cooked the meat, served the salads and began eating our meal-no sigh of Chris and Kim.......ooppps....their microwave won't work! we all had a good laugh about the newest van not being able to reheat their dinner. So we then started naming the vans, Chris and kims ended up being called "The Merc" as it is the best of the 3, then Mick and Jennys well pretty boring really "The Eagle" (Jayco brand) and you guessed it ours is "The Ark" as it is as old as the bible, but might I add it is a strong as Noah's Ark as most things are that were made years ago... made to last!

Subday morning, hot brekky on the BBQ-I even made lambs fry and Bacon, one of The Moths and my favourite meals, cleaning up is so easy, cook outside and basic crockery etc. Mick & Jenny had to leave today, after they had we went for a drive to look around Gloucester countryside, beautiful area-so green at the moment. When we return to the town we went to the local pub and listened to a duet very good too might I add.

The next morning we headed back home. I think we might enjoy this we have another weekend planned for January...it would be December but just won't happen with Christmas and The moths 49th Birthday.

Till January, take care

Impressed
Way to go guys, a blog, what a good idea to keep track of all the adventures. The "Moth" hey, I actually thought it may have had some relation to "Pockets", moths in wallets and all. Cheers Kim
