Photo Credit: Ghislaine Johnson's amazing photoshop skills (just kidding, no photoshop required, we're that good!) Hello Everyone,
As we travel into the new year, I'm thankful for the time with friends and family to enjoy eachother's company and look forward to what's ahead.
I was just telling my friend Morgan over breakfast that I'm starting to feel like a broken record, as inevitably the conversation with my loved-ones turns to my recent, life-changing decision to quit my job, put all of my worldly possessions into storage (thanks GiGi!) and take off on an 8 month journey around the world with my friend, Trung.
These first few days of the new year have been busy. Trung and I have been running errands non-stop to outfit ourselves for the journey. He is leaving on Tuesday (January 4th) so there are a bunch of important things we have to get done before he goes. I hope to put the list online another time so that everyone can get a sense of what we've went through over the last 6 months!! For now, our errand list has included visiting with our great group of friends, reminiscing about the great times we've had this past year and saying goodbye and good luck as Trung prepares to leave.
Cannon Rebel T1i
Trung will be the photographer, along with the 100lbs Cannon Rebel T1i The first leg of Trung's adventure will include flying solo for a couple of weeks in Shanghai, Beijing and his home city of Hanoi, Vietnam. His parents and extended family live in Hanoi. He's looking forward to spending a few weeks with them.
As for me, I'm getting myself prepared to break the news to my boss that I'll be leaving. I'm not sure what to expect from them over the next couple of weeks, but I've allowed enough time for three more weeks of work in order to wrap up any loose ends and get myself ready to leave. I'll be letting them know tomorrow, so it should be exciting! (and awkward)
I'm still getting used to this whole blog business, so bear with me. I'm just reading over what I've written and it all sounds terribly formal. I should get my writing style back to something that normal people can read, eventually. 😉 (Plus, the A.D.D. paragraph topics might streamline themselves eventually too)
I welcome everyone's comments over the next 8 months. Travel tips, warnings, lol's, and whatever else you want to tell us, please feel free! Trung bought a new Cannon Rebel T1i so
Tour Guide
I may have been a tour guide like this one in a previous life. he'll be the official photographer, while I'll be the official blogger. Hopefully this arrangement works out and we'll be able to post as much information as possible over the next 8 months. Something more specific you want to know? Just ask! Everybody knows that I was a tour guide in a past life, so I'm looking forward to guiding you around the world!
Having said that, we've organized our travels into approximately 3 week segments, with a beach every few weeks. I expect that in-between those beaches, we'll be hopping between cities on planes, trains and auto-rickshaws, zooming around and down and through the world's temples, jungles, canyons, waterfalls, markets, rivers, oceans, islands, reefs, volcanoes and whatever else we get up to. I might not always have time to post and update daily (or even weekly) but when we finally land on a beach it will give us an opportunity to catch up on the blogging for the previous leg of the trip. I look forward to those times when I can talk to you about our adventures.
Until then, finally, this is my first blog post for those of you who have been asking!
Stay tuned!
