Merry Christmas everyone, hope you all had a lovely day.

So we are now staying The Rocks YHA and it is amazing. We are in a 6 bed female dorm with an en-suite shower and toilet. The room is massive. We are also on the top level and you can walk out of our room and see the Opera House. From the roof terrace you can see out across Sydney - so cool.
So we when out to a pub on Christmas Eve wearing our Santa hats and had a wicked night. Met some really cool people in the hostel. The Rocks is a really nice part of Sydney, lots of pubs, cafes and restaurants.

Christmas day we spent on Manly beach, we went against the norm as most backpackers head to Bondi. We woke up and swapped presents. I got a really nice necklace form Lauren and cardboard speakers and sunglasses from Shell. Mum had also sent over a silver heart necklace, so I had something to open. It was really nice opeing a present from the family : )
I managed to have scambled eggs and smoked salmon for breakfast Christmas morning, so I kept up that tradition - was just missing the bagel, but mum forgot to buy them back home too so I didn't miss out!
We got the boat over to Manly in the afternooon after having numerous photos on the roof terrace. The weather was glorious all day long - so sunny! We spent the afternoon on the beach listening christmas songs, swimming, lying around and taking pictures - pretty surreal! That night we headed back to the hostel and cooked a BBQ. Not the usual Christmas dinner, but still just as tasty.
It was definately a strange Christmas day, but it was nice spending it with Shell, Lauren, Jen and Sarah, it ws only missing all you back home.

I've added a few pics - take a look.

Next blog will be New Years and we might be going on a harbour cruise on NYE - watch this space.
love you all
xxxxx

my christmas breakfast

Wow
Hi Emma. Your breakfast looks scrummy. I had a bacon sandwich! I had a lovely Boxing day with your family. Mary (with Lucy and Kay's help) cooked a lovely dinner - turkey, ham and beef with all the trimmings and plenty of alcohol! We played games in the afternoon and then Pauline & co came over and we played more games, drank more and ate even more. The food was non stop. Mum then cooked a fried breakfast for us all this morning before Geoff and I went shopping to Bluewater. The traffic was bad but we got there in the end. Lucy was attempting to get packed for her trip to Scotland. I am sure she will have a fantastic time there. Your family missed you terribly over Christmas but were pleased you could skype so were able to see and hear you. Your photos are great. It looks like you are having a wonderful time. Happy new year to you. Speak soon and take care. Julie x x
