Seriously, did any of you see this year go by? The last time I actually wrote in this blog was almost one year ago. My intentions of being a regular blogger were good but it seems as though real life got in the way! Anyway, it's that time of year for catching up with everyone. I'm not sure why we decide to do this only once a year because we sure think of you a lot more than that.
Today as I was sitting on the metro with Tatiana on our way to her theater class, two rather good looking men, dressed in black suites with ties, red shirts and Santa hats, blasted Diana Summer's "Hot Stuff" from their speakers. Tatiana and I looked at each other with a wondering eye and focused our attention on our entertainers. The men proceeded to take off their jackets, followed by ties, and then without warning, the pants were ripped away! There they stood in their red, tight boxers reassuring us that it wouldn't go any further. "No worries, we know there are children in the crowd, Merry Christmas!" and then made their way around the car smiling as the coins went clink, clink,
clink. This just reminded me of our life for the last year. One of the joys of living in a huge, international city is all of the surprises that seem to pop out from around the corners, the possibilities are limitless.
As France shocked and awed the world with lack of sportsmanship in the World Cup, continual striking and even violence in the streets of Paris, endless criticism of its president, and snow storms at the end of the year, our little lives in Paris went on and we somehow made it through. It has been a year of adjustment and continual learning and we are slowly adapting and understanding more and more about our new surroundings and life.
We have taken full advantage of our year with small trips to the the Alps, Barcelona, Prague, Alsace, Italy and Normandy. Every trip teaches us more about the world and broadens our horizons leaving us with a desire to see and learn more. The kids are growing and now Yohan and Tatiana are in the same school as Tatiana has started Jr. High. Yohan continues to adore football and is still playing with the Little Angels. He also had a few
Yohan in Heaven
Heaven would be the Camp Nou football stadium in Barcelona, Spain opportunities to use his acting skills in Shakespeare and Moliere at school, thrilled, simply thrilled about the whole thing! He has also taken on tennis this year and is happy to be able to play year round. Tatiana's artistic interests continue to flourish as she has added dance and guitar to her weekly activities. Theater continues to interest her and she made a wonderful Foxy Fox in the "Gruffalo" last spring.
Emmanuel and I continue to work together and have found that it is much easier than we thought. We balance this out by making sure to take full advantage of the city and get out regularly to see art exhibits, theater, movies and of course we try the endless choices of restaurants in the city. Yum!
We want you to know that although we are far (from most of you!) we continue to think of you and love hearing from you and even seeing you! We have been fortunate to have many visits this year and hope that this next year will be filled with friends and family again. We send you our best wishes for 2011 and hope it is a year of happiness, health and maybe even
Candy, Candy and more candy
Hard to keep tongues in mouth when choosing from all these delicious candies at the Barcelona market some prosperity!
All our love,
Cori, Emmanuel, Yohan and Tatiana

yes 2011
Cori, Thank you for blogging again. It is great to see photos of all of you and see that your life in Paris continues to be grand. Dave and I would love to spend a few months in Paris. That may happen some day-- who knows. I'm not sure how the kids have time for all of their activities. Please keep posting. Merry
