The Smiths
Our picture together Today we got up at around 10 and made our way out around 11 to meet Becky and Greg at Miguel's, a Mexican restaurant. I figured out last night that the old part of Chiang Mai, where we're staying, is surrounded by a moat. I think you could probably walk the moat's perimeter in about 2 hours, though I don't know why you would...I love all the random little streets with wats (temples), bars, restaurants, and houses tucked in, not to mention the hoards of Thai massage as well as tourist places.
This is their winter, but it really feels like summer if you're coming from anywhere not near the equator. It's hot, but not that bad, and I'm very thankful for that, especially because we have yet to be bombarded by hungry mosquito mamas.
Ok so let's start from the beginning. Last night. On our way out I got some little phrases from the woman downstairs to help us get around (listed below) and we headed out to dinner. We found out along the way that the king's birthday is tomorrow, the 5th, so we were worried that everything would be closed and the town would be completely
Coconut milk
My drink at Chang Chalaad dead. We kept on walking past the sign that told us about the king's birthday and found Chang Chalaad, a cute little restaurant. I ordered coconut milk and a chicken baguette and Ronald got a banana shake and Thai omelette. The coconut milk was served to me in a coconut and it was delicious. It was 285 baht in total and we headed back to catch some z's.
Today we went out early to try to find Miguel's and when we got there we were really early so we ordered piƱa coladas (120 baht) and waited. When they arrived we ordered some food; I got three tacos, one chicken, two beef, Ronald got a shredded chicken quesadilla,we shared chips and guacamole, and they both got breakfast burritos. The guacamole was good, but not spicy, and my tacos were tasty too -- I liked the beef much better than the chicken. Ronald's chicken quesadillas lacked of cheese, but had a good flavor, so that was sort of strange. They gave us lots of helpful tips about Thailand and then Becky dropped us off at All Seasons Travel, a tour agency next to the McDonald's on the eastern side. The girl
Stop sign
Stop sign in Thai was really nice and we ended up booking three days worth of tours with a nice discount from her as well as 6 free hours on their internet (you get 1 hour free per booking). Monday we are going to do quite a bit of things, Tuesday a cooking course at a traditional farm, and Wednesday the Flight of the Gibbon zipline tour. Thursday we're taking the bus to Pai to continue on our journey!
After the tour agency we went to go buy tickets for the Muay Thai boxing fight that's tonight. We bought the cheaper tickets for 400 and then walked around. We found a place called Hot Chili and I got to sit in a swinging chair...nice!
Anyways, will update later on the boxing and tours!

Looks clean and modern
Tours sound like fun esp. zip line. Good idea to do tours to see things and be safe at the same time. What's up with the cooking course?? Pics. were good to see, too.
