this is cow! free to roam the field!
Chris slept…… Helen returned stuff to warehouse and went for a run!
Tigger bought the squishy twins home , I collected Maia from school and dropped her to pippins with Paige. I went out on the bike for my first ride…..and managed to get a puncture!!! Was just doing a 20 mile out and back ride, and had got to literally about 200 yards from the turn around point when I lost all pressure in the front tyre. Unfortunately, one of the things you’re not allowed to fly with these days are CO2 cartridges. These are basically very small high pressure CO2 gas canisters, which you screw into an adapter and they allow you to inflate your tyres really quickly. Perfect for when you’re racing a triathlon….not so perfect when you’re on a training ride that’s the first one since you’ve just flown the bike and, as a result, don’t have any with me! So, stranded 10 miles from home…..no worries, I’ll call Mark and Tigger……ah, the only other thing I’m missing, other than the gas canisters, is my mobile! Hmmm, not looking too good! I head to a nearby motel to see if they have a) a phone I can

use and b) a phone book, so I can look up their number. The lovely lady in the motel was really helpful, and had both, but Mark and Tigger aren’t in the phone book! I have a bit of a panic and then remember that Martin and Penny are likely to be in there, so we change the search and, thankfully as I know the road they live on, we were able to find their number, I called them, was able to get Mark’s number, called home, got Tigger and Helen came out to get me. I’d taken the tyre off to try and find where it had punctured, but couldn’t find any holes anywhere in it, so it wasn’t until I got home and pumped the tube up I discovered that it must have been pinched in the tyre itself, and could have burst at any time, as the side of the tube had a hole about 1cm long in it. So, slightly shorter first ride out, and trip to the bike shop needed to get some more co2!!
