11:30 am the day starts. We took a Café Latte and some pastries while reading the newspapers of Kathmandu. We found out that the Chileans’ got off the cavern and that Germany won about Kazakhstan 3:0.

After this short break in the “morning” we took a taxi to Pashupatinath, the holiest Hindu temple in Nepal. The taxi driver dropped us off at the highway and said that we have to follow the narrow street for 2 minutes. We trusted him and started our little adventure for the next 2 minutes and surprise surprise we were right. ;-)

For the dram of 500 Rupees each we could enter the temple. Naturally everybody wants to explain the temples’ history for less than 250 Rupees. We explored it ourselves. Besides the thousands of monkeys we saw dead people who were burned in a ceremony of 4-6 hours. After they had burned the ashes were swept to the river where all other Nepalese wash themselves. We visited these ceremonies for half an hour and continued our day walk to Boudhanath.
We were the only tourists who walked to Boudhanath because it was raining a bit. But therefore we saw streets, houses and people the others couldn’t see. We arrived in Boudhanath in the early afternoon and paid another entrance fee of 150 Rupees each. The stupa paid off so that we stayed here for the next hour.

While the day still had some hours left, we decided to drive to the Monkey Temple, called Swayambhunath Stupa. Arriving at this place is not as beautiful as you might think because the first thing you see are about a hundreds of steps you need to take to get to the top. ;-) But of course, we are still fit for this little experience. Halfway the stairs it nearly came to an in-fight between Thomas and a monkey. The monkey hijacked a girl with her shopping bag and Thomas had the idea to help her. After the monkey showed this teeth, Thomas felt down the steps so that the monkey affrighted and gone on the run. Good maneuver, Thomas! ;-)

The excitement paid off, too because we had a complete overview of Kathmandu and yet another stupa. Unfortunately, the weather was not the best to see the mountains in the background today.
