Starting my second year of teaching here in South Korea...

So much has happened over the past year, where to begin?

I hit some the highest highs when I arrived...a lot going on, many places to see, and a lot of places to visit. Once winter hit, I hit one of the lowest lows. I didn't want to see people or talk much. Going out was not even an option. I was constantly annoyed by the smallest things. In short, I just wanted time to myself after feeling like I was always on the go.

After a few months in a semi-catatonic state, I started hanging out with people again. I went snowboarding for the first time over Christmas weekend. Things started to pick up and by February it was already time for our next week-long break. I went to Taiwan with friends and had a great time sightseeing and eating.

I was a little bit torn as to whether or not to re-contract, but in the end I thought that I needed to give life here another chance. I learned a lot after one year. I can apply this as I continue my journey here. Mostly I think I need to surround myself with people I can talk to and trust. I thank the friends that reached out to me when I was feeling down. It really doesn't matter where you are in the world...we have Skype now!!! I'm constantly hanging out there (well that's mostly because my parents learned how to use Skype and I never know when they'll be online...). Also, there's email...and finally there's Facebook. I was anti-Facebook for awhile because I was getting annoyed with people who posted every second of their lives...I don't need to hear about what you had for breakfast everyday...

The year is already looking quite busy. May was a whirlwind month with birthday celebrations every weekend. I like to take advantage of my birth month...why not? First weekend of the month, I stayed in a pension (like a timeshare) with friends in Gangwon province. We basically rented out an apartment for the weekend in the countryside. It was relaxing and nice to be out of town. Second weekend, I was back in Seoul for Cirque du Soleil's Varekai. First time seeing a Cirque show and it was amazing!!! I want to see all of them now. Third weekend, I went to Gyeongju for the fourth time. Finally, last weekend I went to a Pohang Steelers soccer game and Busan for a day trip.

*I didn't realize my full entry was not published....adding the rest of what I remember now*

June seems to be busy as well. My friend and former partner in crime, Cindy, is coming back for a two week visit. We'll be attending our co-worker's wedding ceremony this weekend. Next weekend is a mandatory company outing for the weekend. It should be interesting. I'm not even sure what to expect with all those personalities in one space for a whole weekend....hmmm.

Stay tuned for future developments! I'll try to add photos as well ^^
