Sweating up a storm!

Hello to all,

Well after a few teary goodbyes (will miss you all, thanks for seeing us off), Steve and I have started our journey and we have been in Singapore since Sunday afternoon and will be heading to London tonight.

The humidity here is crazy and you have about 10 showers a day to try to combat it. Really doesnt work though.

If anyone is looking to do a bit of shopping. This is the place to be. They have 2 major shopping locations - Suntec City and Orchard Road, both are bigger than any shopping Centre that we have ever seen!

First night we went to the night safari. A great experience, as you get to see many animals under the cover of darkness. Hence you get to see many animals that wouldnt be active during the day. There was a really funny animal that looked a little like a possum but moved like a sloth. It was like watching a slow motion replay, Steve and I watched for about 5 minutes laughing the whole time as he only moved a metre.

Yesterday we ventured into Chinatown and went backpacker style as we ate lunch down some dingy alley way and hoped for the best. It has all seemed to be alright so far. In the night we headed for a couple of drinks in the Equinox bar on the 70th floor of the Equinox building. The lift goes so quickly your ears pop, but it was a great view and happy hour. Drinking is an expensive sport over here at most places as alcohol is taxed a huge amount. A beer is usually around 13 Singapore dollars and a glass of wine around 18 at some places. This is about 11.50 Australian for a beer. Happy hour is the key. Then we had some dinner at the most western Chinese restaurant in the whole of Singapore. It was nice though.

We are off to Santoza Island today, a tourist destination just off the coast. Have some dinner at the seafood park near the airport and head off to the next chapter of our overseas adventure.

This travel diary is a good idea . Like the pictures. I am starting to get itchy feet.Not sure I like the idea of the humidity in Singapore but the shopping and food appears to compensate.Keep the updates coming
